THE K I NG ' S BUS I NESS “ Shall we whose souls are lighted, With wisdom from on high; Shall we to souls benighted, The lamp of Life deny?” How imperative it is for us who have the light to give it to the Romanists who are all about us. A greater mission field could not be found than that right at our door. May we heed the word of the Lord, “ Arisp and let thy light shine.” / i/) M New Mission to Reach Jews The latest step in the development of our Jewish work has been the open ing of what we call the “ Lovers of Zion Mission” , which is located in ¡the Jewish business section of WORK AMONG West Temple Street. JEWISH PEOPLE This location is James Vans especially suited for o u r purpose, f o r hundreds of Jewish people pass our doors daily. A free reading room is conducted in connection with the mission, where men may drop in and rest and study the Scriptures (copies of which are pro vided in Hebrew, Yiddish and English), read a book or newspaper, or write a letter. Our pian is to have the Reading room open every afternoon and evening, with some one in attendance to reason with the visitors from the Law, and the Prophets and the Psalms, concerning their Messiah. In our windows we have displayed (so that passers-by may read) open Bibles in large type, with certain pass ages of Scripture underlined in red ink. It is no uncommon sight to see as many as four or five Jews at once standing in front of our windows reading those texts, and throughout the day dozen of people will have read them. The texts have been chosen with care, and are so arranged as to present a clear Gospel message from the Old Testament. Gospel services are held each Tues day and Saturday evening, -and so far

the attendance has been very good. The meetings are proving most, interesting and helpful to the young Jewish con verts and other Hebrew Christians as well as to the unconverted Jews who attend. Already we have had a num ber of earnest inquiries and expect shortly to see some of them receive the Lord Jesus as their Messiah. Considerable opposition is developing against the work, as is always the case where a Jewish Mission is opened. A number of the more fanatical orthodox Jews have felt it their duty to jGdd to come down in front of our Mission and while God is being praised on the inside In sermon and song, they have stood on the outside and pronounced curses against us and our work. Some of the more extreme among them send their children down in front of the Mission to make a noise and disturb the meet ings. Will you not pray with us that these people, who are so dear to the heart of God, but whose hearts are filled with prejudice through misunderstanding, might come to see that we are there as friends and not as enemies, and that many of the wandering feet of the “ lost sheep of the house of Israel” might be turned into the fold o f the Great .Shep herd. f ) yJT He Entering Homes With Gospel Story The Foreign Missionary Society had convened in one of the suburban towns, and the time for the “ devotional exer cises” had arrived.
