home, you have sufficient to keep you for one day at least.” Helping Others Brings Reward. A man walking beside the river heard someone scream and rushing through the brush, he saw a boy struggling in the water. He plunged in and rescued him. When he got a good look at his face he found that it was his own son. While trying to save somebody’s boy he had saved his own. A young man went into a Y.M.C.A. and asked for a position, but the secre tary did not have one open. Then said the young man “ Give me a broom.” “ What do you want of a broom,” said the secretary. “ Your steps are dirty,” replied the young man. When he came back from sweeping the steps, the sec retary said, “ You wait here I think I can find work for you.” He did and that young man in after days became a banner secretary in New York City. Helfulness brings reward. Jesus Answering, v. 30. The main purpose of this answer is to show how far off men may be and yet be neigh bors.-—Maclaren. There are some who are willing enough to COMMENT love their neighbors, PROM MANY so long as the selec- SOURCES tion of the neighbor is left to them.—P. B. Brooks. A certain man. The occurren ces of providence would yield us many good instructions if we would carefully observe and improve them.— Henry. The parable contains 'the most blessed Gos pel truths. Jerusalem is the city of God. Jericho represents the world. The trav eler is a type of humanity. Man has fallen in the awful road which leads down, fallen among thieves, naked, wounded, helpless and hopeless.
