Lord Jesus to His disciples from which the history grew. The Christ who gave the command was the One who had been raised from the dead, and who had shown that He was really alive again by His appear ances during the forty days; the Christ whom they saw rising from among them as they walked and talked with Him on the way to Bethany. They had been interested that day in the restoration of Israel to her lost place; He had been interested in the evangelization of the world, and that was what He commanded them to attend to. Any interest in the restoration of Israel that interferes with preaching Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth is anti-scriptural, and to be depre cated. The two interests are not neces sarily antagonistic, though some unwise ones would seem to think they were. About 800,000,000 human beings have not yet been reached in any adequate way with the Gospel of the grace of God — the message of Jesus. The churches of Christendom have given about 19,000 men and women as foreign missionaries, and about $35,- ,000,000 a year for sending the message of eternal life to the dying millions. What would President Poincare, or King George Y, have thought of us had Pres ident Wilson cabled them that we were coming to the defense of the world’s lib erty with an army of 19,Q00 soldiers and an appropriation of $35,000,000? But that is all that the Lord Jesus Christ, the author of all our liberties, can get from us. “ We bear the name of Christian, His name and sign we bear, Oh, shame, thrice shame upon us.” He has promised His presence— “ Lo, I am with you alway,” and provided the power to carry out His command— “ Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you.” If Christian men and women will not go, let go, and help go, how can our Lord make known His love and His sal vation. He is counting on us, and if

the dying saint joined him in singing the 54th Paraphrase: “ I’m not ashamed to own my Lord, or to defend His cause; Maintain the glory of His cross, and honor all His laws. Jesus, my Lord! I know His name, His name is all my boast; Nor will He put my soul to shame, nor let my hope be lost. I know that safe with Him remains, protected by His power, What I’ve committed to His trust, till the decisive hour. Then will He own His servants’ name before His Father’s face, And in the New Jeru salem appoint my soul a place.” A few days, afterwards the man who wrote “ The Greatest Thing in the World” looked into the face of Him “ whom not having seen” he loved, and whom he was not ashamed to confess before men. II. Rightly. Treating the Hply Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the “ other com forter” that Jesus promised to send when He himself left this world. As it is possible to deny Christ, it is possible to blaspheme against the Holy Ghost and be lost eternally. From Matthew 12:22-32 it would seem that the sin against the Holy Ghost is the wilful and deliberate attributing of His works to Satanic agency. To thus resist the Holy Ghost is to put one’s self outside of His help, and He (the Holy Spirit) is the only one who can bring us to repent ance and faith. This shuts us off from all hope of salvation. See John 6:37. One who sincerely repents of his sin and comes to Jesus Christ for forgive ness and salvation, proves by doing so that he has not committed the unpar donable sin. “ Comforter” ' means “ advocate,” or “ one who stands by.” When a child of God is put on his defense for his faith in Jesus, he need not be worried and anxious as to what he shall say; the Holy Spirit will put the words in his mouth. ITT. World Wide Witnessing for Jesus. The writer of the books of the Acts of the Apostles as a preliminary to the history records the command of the
