Indianapolis at high schools and sporting events. He’s even been a special guest at the wedding of UIndy alumni! Home Sweet Home When Grady II isn’t on campus, he lives with Coran Sigman ’14 ’21 (Communication, Sociology, and MA in Public Relations) and her family. Sigman serves as both mascot handler to Grady and Grady II as well as a marketing and communications manager for UIndy. Learning the Ropes Grady and Grady II will share mascot duties through the rest of the academic year so that the original can show Grady II what it’s like to be a live mascot.

A Grand Introduction Grady II was unveiled to campus as the newest chapter in the beloved live mascot program on campus on Oct. 16 in the Shreve Atrium. Grady II was adopted from a racetrack in Australia. The introduction came almost six years after the original Grady was unveiled to campus in 2019, bringing the live mascot program back to UIndy for the first time in nearly 40 years. The original Grady will officially retire or “graduate” with the Class of 2026 in May. Did you know? Being a live mascot is a full-time job! Grady I makes about 130 appearances a year, not just on Smith Mall or Schwitzer Student Center, but all around

“I am so excited that the live mascot program will serve a new generation of Greyhounds. More than just a mascot, Grady and Grady II are wonderful ambassadors with the power to cheer up students who may be homesick or struggling, often with just a hug or a picture.”
