Clean and bright card of Lou Gehrig from the W517 strip card issue, graded EX/NM 6 by SGC. Of 38 examples graded by SGC, just six have graded higher than this. Slightly off-center with mild toning at the top and left, the card exhibits some light corner wear consistent with the grade. Strong midgrade card from the scarce and desirable Felix Mendelsohn issue. The Mendelsohn set was issued over a three-year period, initially offered in advertisements in The Sporting News for the price of $5 for 100 pictures. More than 100 different subjects are currently known, and more may yet be discovered. This example presents well, with some light corner wear and mild toning on the reverse responsible for the grade.
