BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, MBA A concern for human values as well as shareholder value is at the heart of the Swansea University MBA. Aimed at those who wish to make an impact on society and address the gap between practice and theory that can exist in management, this course is designed to equip students with global skills for organising and collaborating, as well as competing, in the private, public and third sectors.

Business Administration, MBA

Our MBA challenges students to be critical thinkers, reflecting on theory and management practice in order to identify where change can be made to the global business landscape. By looking into innovating approaches to business best practices, responsible consumption trends and hybrid organisational forms, we prepare our MBA students to meet the trials of securing human values in a time of global transformation. As an MBA student, you will manage a project addressing a real problem of a client

organisation, work collaboratively with peers and industry professionals. Work with expert academics, pioneering researchers and leaders in business to tackle key societal challenges and make a positive impact with the opportunity to build on your own experience and challenge how businesses operate. The programme provides a different approach to management thinking and will ensure students make conscious decisions within the working world and understand the wider impact of these decisions.

YOUR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION EXPERIENCE We draw on expertise from across the School of Management to encourage a ‘what works’ mind-set for challenges that cannot be solved by single individuals or organisations acting in isolation. Our MBA is premised on the co-production of relevant knowledge using existing academic research from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives alongside your own experience and that of external business and societal leaders. Students will be exposed to industry leading speakers and have the opportunity to learn from both large and small scale business, locally and globally.

MENTORSHIP Our MBA students will also have the opportunity of being mentored by someone in industry to gain bespoke guidance and advice throughout the programme and manage industry set projects. This gives us the room to select based on performance, as mentioned later in the brochure. MASTERCLASSES Throughout the programme, students will attend a number of masterclasses run by academics and industry leaders, providing further insight and opportunities to discuss global business challenges.

MODULES The MBA programme is based on the interaction between theory and practice. It will provide you with a critical appreciation of human values in a business and management context through a range of modules; some grounded in academic fields, others more directly inspired by the requirements of practice. The modules making up the MBA will be delivered for full time students over three teaching blocks. Full information on the full-time and part-time variants can be found on our website: swansea.ac.uk/postgraduate/taught/som/business-management/mba- business-administration

Generative Artificial Intelligence is a branch of artificial intelligence that uses deep learning algorithms, trained on large datasets, to generate content such as text, images, videos, and music. ChatGPT is just one example of generative AI that can generate human-like responses to text prompts and can be used in a variety of applications such as chatbots, language translation, and content creation. As these technologies continue to evolve, they have the potential to revolutionise the way we interact with machines and each other. However, it’s important to be aware of the potential ethical implications and to ensure that these technologies are used for the benefit of all. In this episode, Professor Yogesh Dwivedi and Dr Laurie Hughes discuss the potential benefits, challenges and risks associated with using generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT in education and the implications that the adoption of generative AI may have for individuals, organisations and institutions in wider society.
