A LARGE AND VARIED PRO BONO PROGRAMME Our pro bono programme offers numerous placements for you to gain exposure to life as a lawyer through supervised experience or from shadowing practitioners, giving you an extra opportunity to enhance your career prospects. You’ll have the chance to participate in legal advice centres, helping to answer legal enquiries from the general public and gaining valuable first-hand experience of client relationships, legal research and drafting. Our Streetlaw and public legal education programmes raise legal awareness in communities through outreach activities. With our external placements you’ll get to experience helping real clients in a real working environment. We’ll help you to obtain placements in a range of not-for-profit organisations which provide members of the public with free legal advice and representation. AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW WE OFFER A VARIETY OF COURSE LENGTHS AND STUDY METHODS DESIGNED TO SUIT STUDENTS IN A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS. GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW (GDL) The GDL is our conversion course for non-law graduates wishing to become a solicitor or a barrister. Our unique modular GDL spreads the workload for, what we consider to be, a better paced approach. Study modes available: Full-time, part-time weekend, part-time evening, full-time online*, part-time online* MASTER OF ARTS IN LAW (MA LAW) Designed for non-law graduates, successful completion of this course will gain you a legal qualification at Master’s level. VISAS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Our International Visa Office provides professional support and advice on international student visas. If you’re a student from outside the EEA and want to study in the UK full-time for six months or longer, you’ll need a Tier 4 (General) Student visa. The University of Law is licensed by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) to sponsor students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System. A FLEXIBLE STUDY OPTION All of our new Master of Law programmes will be available full-time face-to-face (blended learning) or completely online. Our online programmes will be delivered by synchronous online classrooms, allowing you to really feel part of a classroom environment. Both study modes are fully supported by a comprehensive Virtual Learning Environment with a full suite of resources to support your learning.

ASSESSMENTS The taught modules are assessed in a variety of ways including coursework based assignments and invigilated closed book examinations. The dissertation will be assessed by the submission of a 15,000 word dissertation. This module provides an opportunity for sustained, in-depth and intensive investigation into, and reflection upon, a specialist area of law, depending on the award chosen. It is supported by research methods training and the allocation of a dissertation supervisor.
