Research Centre at the University of Southampton. David leads research in the area of active silicon photonic devices and circuits. His career in Photonics began with a year in industry at Nortel Networks in Paignton. David joined the University of Surrey in 2001 as an undergraduate student studying electronic engineering. He subsequently undertook PhD studies under the guidance of Professor Graham Reed investigating optical switching devices in silicon. From 2008 he worked as a research fellow in the same research group on a number of projects and different optical devices in silicon although focusing mainly on high-speed active devices and their integration with other photonic and electronic devices. David moved to the University of Southampton in 2012 taking up the role of senior research fellow. David has published over 95 journal papers, 19 patent applications and around 200 conference papers in the area of silicon photonics. David has served on 4 conference committees including IEEE Group IV Photonics and SPIE Photonics West

Francesco Poletti Professor Francesco Poletti leads the Hollow Core Fibre group at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC), University of Southampton, an interdisciplinary team

Rui Wang Dr Rui Wang is a Lecturer at the University of Bristol with his research aligned with High Performance Networks Group and Smart Internet Lab. He received his PhD degree

developing ground-breaking optical fibres that guide light in air. For his research on hollow core fibres, in 2009 he was awarded Fellowships from the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society. From 2009 to 2017 he was a Royal Society University Research Fellow; currently he holds an ERC consolidator grant (Lightpipe, 2017-2022). Professor Poletti has co-authored >400 peer reviewed publications and produced 15 granted patents. He is co-founder of Lumenisity, a startup developing HCF cables for optical communications.

Alexandros Stavdas Alexandros Stavdas holds a B.Sc. degree in Physics from the University of Athens (Greece), an M.Sc. in Optoelectronics and Laser Devices from Heriot-Watt /St. Andrews

from the University of Bristol, in 2019. He was a Postdoc researcher from 2018 to 2023, and then obtained the lectureship position. He has been working on the development of networking technologies for the last 10 years for both classical and quantum networks. Specifically, his research has been focused on developing new solutions for prepare-and-measure and entanglement-based networking, including machine learning for quantum network management, the co-existence of quantum and classical channels in the same networks, and dynamic control towards large-user networks. He has established quantum networks in the Bristol metropolitan area and is also a critical enabler of the UK Quantum Network. He authored over 60 peer-reviewed journals and conference publications, including high- score papers and postdeadline papers at OFC, ECOC. He is also a TPC member of flagship international conferences, including OFC, ONDM and ACP.

University (U.K.), and a Ph.D. from University College London (U.K). He has authored more than 200 papers for journals and international conferences. He also served in the positions of Chairman and Member of the Technical Program Committees in several international conferences.

Michela Svaluto Moreolo Michela Svaluto Moreolo is Research Director and the Coordinator of the "Photonic and Quantum Communication

on theoretical quantum optics and quantum information. He is a researcher within the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme in Quantum Communications, and since 2019 has been working at the interface of finite and one-shot quantum information theory. He has developed novel quantum receivers; devices that enable efficient decoding of quantum information, which combined practicality with high performance, facilitating broad adoption. In 2021, an experimental implementation showed some receivers outperformed previous decoders, highlighting technological impact. He has also established a rigorous and detailed account of finite-block size analyses on key generation in satellite-based quantum communications to provide performance benchmarks over long distances. He works closely with experimentalists and engineers to model and guide the design of upcoming satellite quantum key distribution missions, including the UK’s Quantum Communications Hub mission.

Technologies" research line within the Packet Optical Networks and Services research unit at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), Spain. She is also a member of the CTTC Management Team, with the role of Director of Quality Programs. She has been actively involved in several R&D projects, leading activities on advanced multi-dimensional optical transmission, programmable high-capacity photonic transceivers for future optical networks and quantum secure communications. She has co-authored over 200 scientific publications. She serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Optical Communications and Networking. She has organized several scientific events and serves as TPC member and chair of the most relevant international conferences in the field of optical communications and photonics. Dr. Svaluto Moreolo is an IEEE Senior Member.
