The New Year kicked off in style at ORPS, with Lifestyles and owners hosting a variety of events that were thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. As the winter season gets underway, there is a noticeable increase in activity as more people return to the resort. The golf tee sheets are filling up, the pickleball and tennis courts are buzzing with energy, and the pool decks are bustling with residents and guests soaking up the warm sunshine. Committees, clubs, and classes are now in full swing, offering a wide range of opportunities for owners and renters to enjoy all the season has to offer. As the calendar fills with events and activities, I ’ d like to remind owners and renters about the many volunteer opportunities that contribute to making ORPS such a vibrant and enjoyable community. Our sports committees have planned several exciting tournaments and need volunteers to assist with setup, organization, and teardown. With CanAm Week just around the corner, there will be even more opportunities to get involved and help make the event a success. Additionally, the Lifestyles team has prepared a full calendar of entertainment and dining events that require the support of dedicated volunteers. These contributions are vital to ensure the success of our weekly gatherings and fostering a sense of community. Finally, the ORPS election season for 2026 is officially underway, with two candidates running for the Board. Ballots will be sent either electronically or by mail in mid-February. I encourage every owner to vote as it is critical that we achieve quorum in order to conduct the required Association business during our Annual Meeting on March 16 th . Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to

appears to fall below our shared standards … whether due to overgrown landscaping, general upkeep, or the condition of an RV … you may receive a friendly reminder. These notices are not meant to be critical. They are simply respectful nudges to help us all stay aligned with the values and expectations we agreed to when we chose to be part of this HOA community. If you ’ re away from the resort or unsure how to address a concern, please don ’ t hesitate to reach out. We ’ re here to support you … whether that means offering guidance, helping coordinate services, or answering questions along the way. We ’ re calling this renewed focus Take Pride … a community-wide effort to protect and enhance the beauty, value, and spirit of ORPS. It ’ s not about perfection; it ’ s about fairness, consistency, and shared responsibility. When everyone does their part, ORPS continues to be a place we ’ re proud to call home. Thank you for your understanding, your engagement, and for helping uphold the standards that make this resort so special.
At Outdoor Resort Palm Springs, we ’ ve earned a reputation as one of the most beautiful and well-loved resorts in the desert … not because everything is perfect, but because of the ongoing care, pride, and commitment shown by our entire community. Maintaining that reputation takes teamwork, shared responsibility, and a collective sense of pride from each of us. This message may sound familiar. It mirrors the theme shared in our annual budget letter, and months later, it is just as important. The budget reflects not only where your dues go, but the shared expectations that come with living in a community like ORPS. We recognize that there are areas throughout the resort … whether related to landscaping, infrastructure, or general maintenance … that may need attention from time to time. These concerns are on our radar, and when the HOA is made aware of issues, we work to address them in a timely manner. That is exactly what your dues support, and it ’ s a responsibility we take seriously. At the same time, it ’ s important to acknowledge that maintaining our community is a shared effort. It ’ s not fair to management or staff to be criticized when asking owners to do the same, nor is it fair to the many owners who consistently maintain their lots and take pride in their spaces. Community standards are a two-way street Over the years, friendly reminders regarding lot conditions may not always have gone out. The unspoken motto may have been “ don ’ t sweat the small stuff. ” Unfortunately, that approach has at times been taken advantage of, leading to understandable frustrations such as: “ Why should I pull my weeds if no one else is here? ” or “ Have you seen what that your planter looks like? ” That mindset isn ’ t what a true community effort looks like. With the recent change to our accounting and HOA management platform, Engage has given our staff better tools to address aesthetic issues more consistently and in a more timely manner. Part of that includes automated reminders generated directly from our governing documents and timelines. Yes, this is new, but these tools are in place to support the entire community, not to frustrate owners. We also recognize that we may not always get it right. Some aesthetic concerns can be subjective, and when our staff is out inspecting, they do their best to apply the standards as objectively and consistently as pos- sible — weeds are weeds. Consistency and fairness are key. Each of us plays a role, and the standard we set — lot by lot — is what keeps ORPS looking and feeling its best. As part of this shared effort, our team continues to conduct routine Community Walkthroughs. When a lot

This season is moving quickly and it just started! The A and A team and Julia, our Compliance Officer, have been working hard to process all requested permits as efficiently as possible. We're happy to shar that we are now very much caught up. Below are several items we see come up frequently and would like to bring to your attention: 1. If you are unsure weather a permit is required, PLEASE contact Julia, our Compliance Officer, before beginning any work. 2. Once your contractor has completed the permitted work, PLEASE email Julia so a final inspection can be completed by the A&A committee. 3. A no cost permit is required if you need to do ANY painting on your RV. 4. As of this Oracle the rule is in place and there are NO ARTIFICIAL PLANTS permitted on any lot. 5. PLEASE make sure that your lot light is illuminated with a warm white light (if you have question to what this is please reach out to Julia). This is to ensure fire and police can locate your property quickly in case of an emergency. In 2016 I was directly involved “ Re-Marketing ” ORPS with a NEW interactive Website, including directing a new “ Tour ” video that facilitated this “ Re-Marketing of ORPS ” to new potential owners . The result of these efforts resulted in ORPS reducing unsold lot inventory from 240 in 2015 to under 100 in just 2 years and eventually under 50 by 2018. I ’ m proud of being a central part of that process and the successful end result with ORPS being the vibrant Premier Resort we currently enjoy. I was “ directly ” involved with the “ Entertainment Amenity ” expansion at the ES Ballroom 7 years ago that ultimately resulted in providing the plentiful “ Activities and Live Entertainment ” enjoyed by all owners today! At times, “ I ” was sometimes the Live Entertainment during this expansion process! WHAT YOU CAN “ NOW ” EXPECT FROM ME AS YOUR BOARD MEMBER! 1. a chance web search, we found Outdoor Resort Palm Springs. We came, borrowed Bob Boyce ’ s golf cart, drove in, and knew instantly ORPS was for us. We were weekenders until 2022, but since have been able to fully enjoy the winter season. Now, it ’ s my time to give back to the community and work to uphold, maintain, and improve our resort. I bring simple goals with my desire to serve: Maintain what works, improve what we can, keep our costs low as possible, and be a voice that holds true to the majority interest of the resort owners. During the last three years I have seen the resort improve visually, and functionally. I want to continue in that effort. I know that every dollar we spend is valuable, and cost our Canadian brothers and sisters even more with the exchange rate. Thus, I want to watch our expenses, and make repairs and improvements with an emphasis on quality of work and value for our dollar. Finally, I know we have differences in our thoughts on the amenities and activities, and on each of these I want to be a voice for the majority of our owners, who acts reasonably, in the best interest of the resort body as a whole. I want to work cooperatively with our current board to ensure continued smooth operations, a safe environment for all, and ensure each contract we agree to is completed with the quality and craftsmanship we would expect of someone working on or own home.
I appreciate your time, interest and consideration,

Teams change every week, so you never know what new friend is waiting to meet you. $5 to play On Thursdays you have a fun way of working on your game in a team format. You will play your own ball, but handicaps will be used to even up play. Most times only two scores from your team will be used per hole, so every hole is a new chance to help your team. Alternating shots, “ A ’ s ” now plays “ B ’ s ” ball and then “ B ” plays the ball, then back to “ A ’ s ” and so on, until the ball is holed. No substituting the other partner ’ s ball. Hitting out of turn is a “ one stroke ” penalty and replayed by rightful player. Prizes will be given out on Saturday at the luncheon. Each participant ’ s lot number will be placed on one ticket and randomly drawn. We will draw as many as 120 tickets and they will win a prize to be determined. You need not be present to win. We will have food served afterwards, as if the game wasn ’ t a good enough reason to join in the fun. $40 for a two-person team to play. FEBRUARY 2026
We are just past the half-way point of our tournament season, and the big tournaments are approaching. On February 13th and 14th, we have the Sweetheart Tournament. Some members have noticed an uneven appearance, inconsistent roll, and difficulty fixing ball marks on the putting greens here at ORPS. This condition is largely the result of lowering the mowing height in an effort to improve green speed. When consistent agronomic management practices are not maintained year after year, lowering mowing heights can expose underlying surface irregularities, resulting in uneven playability and appearance. Raising the mowing height can help reduce thin or stressed turf areas; however, doing so also decreases green speed and can cause the golf ball to roll inconsistently moving left to right, bouncing, or failing to track smoothly toward the target. The grass will be the same length, but the ground underneath will be uneven. Uneven greens are more prone to scalping at high points, leading to bare or thin patches, slow recovery, and potential long-term turf damage. These conditions also contribute to inconsistent green speeds, bumpy putting surfaces, and poor drainage. A level putting surface is essential for consistent ball roll and enjoyable play. Achieving this requires a comprehensive and consistent agronomic program, including annual dethatching, rolling, aerification using 1/4" and 5/8” tines, pest control applications (including Merit to help manage grub populations), fertilization, and topdressing with approved materials. These practices are typically scheduled during the summer months of June, July, and August. Due to the lack of consistent implementation of these essential maintenance practices in previous years, restoring optimal green conditions cannot be accomplished within a three-month timeframe. This will be an ongoing improvement process over the next two to three summers, with aggressive implementation of these practices during the summer months each year. As improvements are achieved, the program will transition to lighter, maintenance-focused applications to preserve green quality and prevent future issues.
Thank you, Ryln Hadley-Bustillos Golf Coordinator

How Our HOA Helps
The Outdoor Resorts HOA and management works to maintain common areas, ensure clear access for emergency vehicles, and share important safety information with residents. During emergencies, community communication may be limited, so residents are encouraged to check on neighbors—especially seniors or those who may need assistance—when it is safe to do so. Preparedness isn ’ t about fear—it ’ s about readiness. By taking small steps now, we strengthen our community ’ s ability to respond, recover, and support one another when it matters most. For more information, visit the Outdoor Resorts HOA website: https://online.flippingbook.com/view/369655346/
Disaster Preparedness:
A Community Responsibility
Emergencies and natural disasters can happen with little or no warning—whether it ’ s a power outage, wildfire, earthquake, flood, severe storm, or extended heat wave. Being prepared ahead of time helps protect our families, our homes, and our entire community. The Outdoor Resorts Safety and Security Committee purpose is to work with the HOA, management and our community to insure our readiness. In January, new members joined the team and committee leadership was selected. Please welcome the new members and leadership.

The entire ORPS community gives our heartfelt thanks to outgoing members of the committee, John Penero, Steve Stockman and John Reininger for their 16 years of service to this committee.
Why Preparedness Matters
During a disaster, emergency services may be delayed or overwhelmed. Having a plan and basic supplies allows households to be self-sufficient for the first 72 hours, which is often the most critical period after an event.
Upcoming Events: The community wide Emergency Preparedness Drill and Training will be held February 6 th .
What Every Household Can Do: In upcoming ORACLE articles, the committee will share with you important information on the following subjects:
1. Build an Emergency Kit
2. Make a Family Emergency Plan
3. Stay Informed, involved and engaged
4. Simple steps that make a big difference and how you can help

It is Valentine ’ s Day this month. It ’ s the day set aside to help us remember and acknowledge those who occupy a special place in our hearts. We usually do this by giving cards or flowers or small gifts. The celebration of St. Valentines Day, synonymous with love, is firmly established as one of our annual traditions. But who was St. Valentine? According to Christian tradition, Valentine was a priest, who in ancient times, continued to perform Christian marriages, in spite of the Roman authorities ’ order to cease and desist. He believed in love and marriage. Ultimately, Valentine was put to death for his faith and disobedience, and became St. Valentine. His life is a symbol of love and courage and sacrifice. Valentine ’ s legacy also points beyond that of human love and affection to the love of the God he served, a greater love that was constant and true and sacrificial. The ultimate in sacrificial love was demonstrated for us in Jesus Christ. This was penned for us by John in his gospel, “ For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever would believe in Him, would not perish but have eternal life. ” God ’ s love is unconditional, constant and redemptive. While Valentine ’ s Day celebrates love between people, it also invites us to consider the source of all love. God ’ s love is the perfect example - faithful, enduring, and freely given - calling us to love one another, as He has loved us.
Please join us for the study of Esther. We are about 45-50 women from different backgrounds. Come see how God used Esther to save the Jews. We watch a video together and then break into small groups. Submitted by Marie Boothman
