A COW HERD DESIGNED TO SERVE THE COMMERCIAL CATTLEMEN, RAISED AND DEVELOPED TO THRIVE IN FESCUE COUNTRY.
BUCK RIDGE CATTLE COMPANY - MARCH 2, 2026 - 1PM
On behalf of the entire Haden family, we are excited to offer this set of bulls and females to our customers. 2026 is off to a great start for the cattle industry with record prices across the country. It is great to see our friends and customers rewarded with these well- deserved prices. We have experienced a very dry winter thus far and have enjoyed not battling the mud! The fall 2025 breeding season was successful and included some of our best matings yet. We implanted the most embryos to date out of some of our most elite donor females. The bulls in the sale are all fall born offering added age and development. We believe they have the performance, phenotype, and data to be successful anywhere. The sale will take place at our headquarters here in Southern Wright County and we will have online bidding available through DV Auction. Come early to enjoy the fellowship among friends and cattlemen. Sale day has become a favorite time of year for us to visit with so many great people. We have decided to adjust the sale schedule slightly. Lunch will be served starting at 12:00 pm with the auction to follow at 1:00 pm. These cattle represent our breeding philosophies well and are accompanied by all the performance data to allow you to make the most informed decision. To that note, Buck Ridge Cattle Co. was recently recognized as a Data Driven Herd by the American Angus Association at the bronze level. We hope as you study the sale information you can appreciate our dedication to raising balanced cattle with above average growth and carcass traits built in while keeping maternal function, fertility, and phenotype at the forefront of our culling criteria. At Buck Ridge, our cattle are managed on fescue pasture year-round just like our commercial cattleman neighbors. BRCC bulls sell with a breeding soundness exam and are a part of a full herd health protocol administered by our veterinarian, Dr. Michael Spragg, DVM of Spragg Veterinary Clinic. We are thankful for his great service, knowledge, and friendship over the last 20 some years. Buck Ridge Cattle Company is a family owned and operated operation. We take a huge amount of pride in that statement. We know firsthand the time and financial commitment that our customers have invested in their farms, ranches, and cattle. Our passion for raising the best quality genetics and selling them at fair value is as strong as ever and we are excited about the future of the beef industry. This sale would not be possible without the efforts of many and for that we are thankful. Many have contributed and we would like to extend a special appreciation to Chris Earl and our entire marketing team for representing Buck Ridge and fighting for independent cattle producers. In closing, thank you for the taking the time to look at our offering. We are extremely honored to continue to work with our repeat customers and would be grateful for the business of first-time customers. We know there are plenty of places to buy bulls and females. Our commitment to you is that we will be working hard every day to improve our cattle and provide the upmost support for our customers in any way we can. Should any issues arise, we are committed to making it right and maintaining a successful long-term relationship. Welcome to our 4th Annual Spring Production Sale!
Please feel free to call, message, or stop by anytime to look at the offering or discuss any questions you might have.

BUCK RIDGE CATTLE COMPANY - MARCH 2, 2026 - 1PM
UNDERSTANDING THE DATA Angus
Fat Thickness EPD (Fat), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. $Values Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), an index, expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences from conception to weaning with the underlying breeding objective assuming that individuals retain their own replacement females within herd and sell the rest of the cull female and all male progeny as feeder calves. The model assumes commercial producers will replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% of their breeding females in each subsequent generation. Traits included are as follows: calving ease direct, calving ease maternal, weaning weight, milk, heifer pregnancy, docility, mature cow weight, claw set and foot angle. Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index, expressed in dollars per head, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from birth to weaning. The underlying objective being producers will retain 20% of the female progeny as replacements and sell the rest of the cull females and their male counterparts as feeder calves. Traits included are as follows (in no particular order): birth weight, weaning weight, milk, and mature cow weight. Beef Value ($B), a terminal index, expressed in dollars per carcass, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics for postweaning and carcass traits. This terminal index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot phase and market these animals on a carcass grid. Traits included in the index are as follows: yearling weight, dry-matter intake, marbling, carcass weight, ribeye area and fat. Combined Value ($C), an index, expressed in dollars per head, which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B) with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality- based carcass merit grid. Expected progeny differences (EPDs) directly influencing a combined index: calving ease direct (CED) and maternal (CEM), weaning weight (WW), yearling weight (YW), maternal milk (Milk), heifer pregnancy (HP), docility (DOC), mature cow weight (MW), foot angle (Angle), claw set (Claw), dry matter intake (DMI), marbling (Marb), carcass weight (CW), ribeye area (RE) and fat thickness (Fat).
Production Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires. Maternal Heifer Pregnancy (HP), is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first-calf heifers during a normal breeding season. A higher EPD is the more favorable direction and the EPD is reported in percentage units. Calving Ease Maternal (CEM), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires. Maternal Milk EPD (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. Management Docility (Doc), is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. It predicts the average difference of progeny from a sire in comparison with another sire’s calves. In herds where temperament problems are not an issue, this expected difference would not be realized. Carcass Carcass Weight EPD (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Marbling EPD (Marb), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Ribeye Area EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

ELITE HERD SIRE PROSPECT BRCC Headwaters 4735 is an elite herd sire prospect that excels in so many industry relevant traits! Most importantly, he is anchored by the pathfinder donor dam Musgrave Blkcap McHenry 1800 who we own with Musgrave Angus. Headwaters is massive in his rib shape, thick topped, and muscular. Lot 1 stands on excellent feet as predicted by his Top 1% CLAW and top 10% Angle. He also has top 25% SC, top 20% Teat, and top 15% Udder predictions. To go along with that he boasts top 3% WW and YW, and MH of only 0.2. 103 $M, 102 $W, 216 $B, and 383 $C make him a very useful breeding prospect across many herds. DOUBLE DIGIT CALVING EASE BRCC Turning Point 4631 is an elite herd sire prospect with double-digit calving ease and so much more to offer. Maternal, performance, and pedigree all join together in Turning Point. His pedigree is stacked with the strongest foundation – excellent Angus mother cows. Dive deep into his lineage and find these cows who need little introduction - Erica of Ellston T220, Erica of Ellston R96, Musgrave Lady Barbara 659, and Musgrave Lady Barbara 540-453. The future calf crops will be rich with consistent excellence. His full brother, BRCC Battle Cry 4001, led off our Fall 2025 sale going to Lindskov’s LT Ranch, SD. His donor dam, Musgrave Lady Barbara 212, continues to prove herself with progeny that rise to the top. 4631 froze semen and was utilized heavily with AI in the BRCC replacement heifer fall breeding.

4694 is no different than his brothers, BRCC Turning Point 4631 and BRCC Battle Cry 4001. The head shape and front end is near identical on these flush mates. He has true breeding bull characteristics that will make him a crowd favorite on sale day. Just like his brothers, his pedigree is full of Angus cow matriarchs.

Thank you Spragg Veterinary Clinic It is often said amongst cattle producers how important it is to have a good relationship with your veterinarian. We are blessed with the best service from Spragg Veterinary Clinic. The service, sacrifice, and knowledge is second to none. Dr. Michael Spragg and the team are crucial to the success of the BRCC cowherd. To top it off, in over 20 years of vet calls, Dr. Michael has never been known to repeat a chute side story!

LIMOUSIN BULLS
UNDERSTANDING THE DATA Limousin
Total maternal (TM): An index that combines growth and milk information as a prediction of the weaning weight performance of calves from a sire’s daughters. A greater TM value means a mother that returns comparatively higher weaning weights on her calves. TM Index = MK EPD + ½ WW EPD. Stayability (ST): Predicts the genetic difference, in terms of percent probability, that a bull’s daughters will stay productive within a herd to at least six year of age. The stayability EPD is one of the best measures currently available to compare a bull’s ability to produce females with reproductive longevity. Carcass Traits Yield grade (YG): Differences in yield grade score, which is a predictor of percent retail product. Smaller values suggest that progeny will have a better lean to fat ratio. Carcass weight (CW): Differences in pounds of hot carcass weight, adjusted to an industry standard age endpoint. Ribeye area (REA): Differences in ribeye area in inches between the 12th and 13th rib. Greater ribeye areas are preferable. Marbling (MB): Predicts the differences in the degree of marbling within the ribeye as expressed in marbling score units. Greater marbling numbers are preferable and are an indicator of higher carcass quality grades. Fat (FT): Differences for fat thickness, in inches, for a carcass over the 12th rib. Smaller numbers of fat thickness are preferable as excess fat can be detrimental to yield grade. Terminal Profit Index ($TPI): Predicts genetic differences in profit per carcass by combining the potential for and value of post- weaning growth, quality grade and yield.
Maternal and Growth Traits Calving ease direct (CED): Percent of unassisted births of a bull’s calves when he is used on heifers. A higher number is favorable, meaning better calving ease. Birth weight (BW): Predicts the difference, in pounds, for birth weight of the calf. Weaning weight (WW): Predicts the difference, in pounds, for weaning weight (adjusted to age of dam and a standard 205 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to weaning. Yearling weight (YW): Predicts the expected difference, in pounds, for yearling weight (adjusted to a standard 365 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to yearling. Scrotal circumference (SC): Is a good indicator of age at puberty, and is a highly heritable trait. EPDs for scrotal circumference are expressed in centimeters, with higher values indicating genes for larger yearling scrotal circumferences of sons and earlier puberty of daughters. Docility (Doc): Predicts genetic differences in the probability that offspring are scored a 1 (docile) or 2 (restless) as opposed to 3, 4, 5 or 6 (nervous to very aggressive). Higher EPD values for docility represent genetics for calmer behavior. Calving ease maternal (CEM): Represented as percent of unassisted births in a sire’s first-calving daughters. A higher number represents more favorable calving ease. Milk (MK): The genetic ability of a sire’s daughters to produce milk expressed in pounds of weaning weight.
