Lo primero que se plantea en la propuesta es recuperar el protagonismo indiscutible del Palacio Errázuriz, no sólo dentro del complejo de la Embajada, sino de la ciudad de Santiago. Para ello se entiende que el primer gesto debía ser el de generar un telón de fondo que ENMARQUE el binomio Palacio/Parque. Este telón deberá ordenar sin ocultar la actual Cancillería, dejando claro al visitante el protagonismo del Palacio y aportando, a la vez, unidad visual al resto de edificaciones. El siguiente gesto debía ser el de INTEGRAR la Embajada al conjunto de Palacio/Parque sin afectar su orden. Para ello se respetó el patrón marcado por la edificación enfrentada al Palacio en su entrada y se quebró ese telón entrelazándolo con la Cancillería. El nuevo Telón/Cancillería ordena el espacio y lo clarifica. Para hacer aún más trasparente el telón, se proyecta como una piel de madera que permite la visión de la actual Embajada y el resto de volúmenes propuestos.
The first thing the project proposes is to recover the undisputed central role of the Errázuriz Palace not only within the Embassy compound but also in the city of Santiago. This means that the first action will be to create a backdrop that provides a FRAME to the joint Palace/Park unit. This backdrop will organize the existing chancellery without concealing it, making the role of the palace clear to the visitors and in turn establishing visual unity with the other buildings. The next gesture will be to INTEGRATE the Embassy to the Palace/ Park unit without distorting its order. To achieve this, the design follows the pattern marked by the building facing the Palace at its entrance, and fractures this backdrop entwining it with the Chancellery. The new backdrop/chancellery orders and clarifies the space. To make it even more transparent, it is designed as a wooden skin that allows views of the current Embassy and other proposed volumes.
