Este proyecto, uno de los primeros del estudio, fue concebido para un gran sitio ubicado al pie de una ladera. Por el oriente se observa la colina, mientras que el valle se abre hacia el poniente. El encargo consistió en la ampliación de una casa con tres nuevas piezas y un living, sin perder la geometría de la edificación existente. El objetivo del proyecto era rescatar y destacar ciertos elementos típicos de las casas chilenas de principios del siglo XX, algunos de los cuales existían en la casa original, como los patios, terrazas techadas y corredores. La casa seguía un patrón de construcción en forma de L, con los dormitorios mirando al oriente y el corredor principal con vista al poniente. El proyecto conserva estas circulaciones, extendiéndolas hacia el norte en función de incorporar otra L, agregando un espacio para los nuevos dormitorios y un living con salida al patio. La estructura existente y la ampliación se conectan por un nuevo pasillo. This project, one of the studio’s first, was designed for a large site located at the foot of a slope. To the east are the uphill views, while the valley opens towards the west. The commission consisted in enlarging a house with three new bedrooms and a living space, without losing the geometry of the existing building. The project’s purpose was to recover and highlight certain typical elements of the Chilean houses of the early twentieth century, some of which existed in the original house, such as the courtyards, covered terraces and corridors. The house layout was an L-shaped building, with the bedrooms facing east and the main corridor with views to the west. The project preserves these circulations, extending them to the north to incorporate another L, adding space for the new bedrooms and a living room with access to the patio. A new corridor connects the existing structure and the extension.
