Your spine can also be affected by poor posture, repetitive motions, a sedentary lifestyle, or work/sport/car accident-related injuries. It's no wonder that back pain is so incredibly prevalent in our society. Just because back pain is common does not mean that it is normal. The mistake that is often made is IGNORING one's back pain. Unnecessary suffering makes little sense when you have an effective and conservative alternative to turn to... physical therapy! Understanding Back Pain Back pain may be common, but it is absolutely not normal. There are many serious conditions that can contribute to back pain. Therefore, it is wise to have a comprehensive evaluation by your physical therapist and/or physician to discover the root cause(s) of your specific back pain. Once the cause of your back pain is determined, your physical therapist will be able to identify the best treatment options for your body’s needs. This will likely include the following: IGNORE YOUR ACHING BACK PAIN! INSIDE : • Getting To The Bottom Of Your Back Pain • Pelvic Health Alert! (continued from outside) WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER

and endurance in the affected muscles as well as support the surrounding tissues.
• Guided stretching exercises will help to improve your range of motion and flexibility. This will allow you to move and function with greater ease and much less discomfort. • Patient education about proper posture, ergonomics and body mechanics for daily activities is vital. Your physical therapist will also help coach you into making common sense modifications to your daily and recreational activities to help you to avoid constantly re-injuring your spine. Attempting to self-diagnose your own back pain is generally not advised. Especially if you have had problems for more than a week or two. Let us help you! Working with an experienced physical therapist can provide you with the tools you need to determine the underlying cause of your back pain and to develop a plan to successfully overcome it!

Getting To The Bottom Of Your Back Pain
Another 5 Star Google Review of DPT!
There are many different reasons why you may be experiencing back pain.
Some of the most common causes of back pain are:
“Dresher Physical Therapy did everything I expected and more! The staff was always there for me and I cannot say enough for their help.” - Dolores D. "The staff was always there for me and I cannot say enough for their help."
• Bulging or herniated discs
• Muscular strain and/or ligamentous sprain
• A tear or hyperextension of supporting muscles, tendons, or ligaments
• Arthritis or other bony degenerative changes
These concerns can develop as a result of a myriad of environmental issues, such as having poor posture, prolonged sedentary activity, car accident, sporting-related injury, stress, heavy lifting, and so on. When it comes to back pain, Do Not Wait! When you experience an injury to your back, or realize that you are experiencing regular pain as a result of an ongoing injury or overuse, it is important to find out the cause of your back pain as quickly as possible. Back pain can easily become chronic, as a potentially small issue can become complicated when it is not addressed early on. Working with a physical therapist can help you to identify the root cause(s) of your specific back pain and to begin working towards a successful and pain-free solution.

For this technique, the knees bend minimally if at all. One leg is allowed to come off the floor behind the lifter and acts as a counter balance. This leg becomes almost parallel to the floor. The front knee, bearing the person's weight, can bend slightly to allow effective use of your leg muscles. The end result is that you reduce strain on your spine by using your leg muscles and maintaining a healthy inward curve (lordosis) in your low back. Try it!
