In the career of recently deceased Jaime Horacio Borgheresi Ramírez, practice and teaching are combined with an equal degree of intensity. On one hand a comprehensive academic life as professor, dean and first director of the Department of Works of the Catholic University of Chile. On the other, an extensive professional practice, author of a diversity of commissions involving prefabricated systems, industrial plants, social housing, apartment and office buildings, and his outstanding sensitivity in single family home design. As the author of a singular body of housing work, he expressed the influence of his direct contact with figures such as Wright and Aalto and their work, extracting some elements of organic thought and expertly adapting them to the local milieu.
