Enfoque estratégico Dada la magnitud y el tipo de daño identificado en el centro de Talca, el deterioro de su imagen urbana y la oferta de “viviendas tipo” disponibles a mediados del 2010 (donde se constataron diferencias insalvables entre el diseño, la norma y la realidad de los terrenos angostos y profundos del damero central), se propuso una tipología de viviendas en fachada continua, que bajo el sistema de subsidios existentes lograra satisfacer la urgente necesidad de techo de las familias damnificadas y reportar también beneficios directos a la ciudad mediante el cumplimiento de los siguientes objetivos: 1. Preservar los rasgos de imagen e identidad asociados al centro histórico, encarnados en dos valores fundamentales: - Un Tejido Urbano donde las viviendas se disponen en fachada continua. - Un Espacio Público calle bien contenido en sus bordes.
Strategic approach Given the magnitude and type of damage verified in the center of Talca, the deterioration of its urban image and the provision of "standard housing" available by mid-2010 (where insurmountable differences between the design, regulations and the reality of the narrow and deep plots of the central checkerboard subdivision were found), a typology of housing with continuous façade was proposed, which under the existing subsidy system managed to meet the affected families’ urgent need for shelter and also bring direct benefits to the city by meeting the following objectives: 1. To preserve the features of image and identity associated with the historic center embodied in two fundamental values: - An Urban Fabric where the houses are arranged in continuous façade. - A Public Street Space well contained by its borders.
2. Generate housing models whose design and location is consistent with the physical reality of the plot (front-depth).

4. Keep the population in their place of residence, preserving and protecting the social and support networks among neighbors.
