Gran AOA Prize: Gubbins Arquitectos
Staying in “the forefront of design” and always “on the cutting edge of innovation” were the key attributes that defined the Gran AOA Prize 2011 Award for Gubbins Arquitectos. Formed in 1996 by Victor Gubbins Browne - National Architecture Award 2000 - and his son Pedro Gubbins Foxley, the office is recognized by its major public infrastructure works, master plans, subdivisions, universities and corporate buildings, as well as residential complexes, tourist developments and diverse housing projects. Each intervention has been addressed “ not only as a geographical but also cultural, social and above all human matter,” as mentioned while receiving the award. Nicolas Fones, Giacomo Visone, Andrés Briones, Antonio Aros, Alejandro Espinoza, Pablo Montecinos, Fernando Ferrada, Christian Pizarro, Deborah Herrera, Raquel Mardones and María Inés Herrera are also part of the team.
