Ante la pregunta de cómo diseñar una pieza de ciudad de 2 km de largo, la respuesta no está en una estrategia de micro urbanismo, sino en una intervención de escala geográfica, articulando a través de un humedal el paseo costanera con el ecosistema natural y urbano de Valdivia. Humedales Si bien el 23% del área urbana de Valdivia corresponde a zonas húmedas (de las que aprox. el 40% son humedales), el área de proyecto no presenta esta condición. Sin embargo, la ubicación del paseo en la ribera permitiría articular a través de un corredor ecológico los humedales colindantes, tanto los del río Calle Calle como los que se encuentran al interior de la trama urbana de Valdivia, atrayendo al paseo la biodiversidad de flora y fauna del territorio, apropiándola como parte de la identidad de la ciudad. When asked how to design a 2 km long city segment, the answer is not a micro urban strategy but a geographical intervention, articulating with a wetland the coastal promenade and the natural and urban Valdivia ecosystem. Wetlands While 23% of the urban area of Valdivia corresponds to wet areas (of which close to 40% are wetlands), the project area does not have this condition. However, the location of the promenade on the river edge would allow articulating through an ecological corridor the adjacent Calle Calle River wetlands and those within the urban area of Valdivia, attracting to the promenade the biodiversity of flora and fauna of the region, and incorporating them to the identity of the city.

El proyecto pone en valor la presencia de los humedales valdivianos posicionándolos como cara visible de la ciudad y articulándolos mediante una red de corredores ecológicos, obteniendo un beneficio tanto medioambiental como económico y cultural para Valdivia. The project enhances the presence of the Valdivia wetlands positioning them as the visible face of the city and linking them through a network of ecological corridors with an environmental, economic and cultural profit for Valdivia.
