La disposición volumétrica de conjunto aspira a crear una interioridad propia en un sector en relativa consolidación urbana, capaz de colonizar un suburbio todavía informe con una peatonalidad interna que impone cierta urbanidad. Los actuales edificios se disponen simétricamente y paralelos a un eje norte-sur que se cerrará con el nuevo edificio. La condición gemela de ambos edificios en relación a su eje de simetría define también la envolvente de ambos volúmenes, donde las caras enfrentadas entre sí tienen la piel más tersa de un muro cortina, y se auto-sombrean entre sí protegiéndose del sol; a medida que se avanza hacia las caras exteriores más expuestas –es decir las orientaciones norte, oriente y poniente– incorporan dispositivos arquitectónicos, que protegen del sol según su orientación. Esta secuencia entre lo más liso y desprotegido del muro cortina, evolucionando hasta el extremo plegado de la fachada, refleja una actitud en sintonía con los principios de la naturaleza y de cómo las especies se adaptan a su medio según el rigor de las solicitaciones, desde las más benignas a las más extremas. Para regular la temperatura al interior del edificio y reducir al máximo el uso de calefacción y aire acondicionado, se definió que cada fachada fuese diseñada de acuerdo con su orientación. The volumetric placement of the complex aims to create an interior spatial condition in a sector of low urban consolidation, capable of colonizing a still shapeless suburb with an internal pedestrian quality reflecting a certain urban condition. The existing buildings are arranged symmetrically and parallel to a north-south axis that will be closed with the new building. The twin condition of the buildings in relation to their axis of symmetry also defines the enveloping skin of both volumes, where the elevations that face each other have the smooth skinned curtain wall and give shade to one another; as we move towards the more exposed external faces – with north, east and western exposures - architectural devices are incorporated to protect from the sun according to their orientation. This sequence between the smooth and unprotected curtain wall, evolving to the extreme folding of the façade , reflects an attitude in keeping with the principles of nature and how species adapt to their environment according to the severity of the requirements, from the most benign to the most extreme. To regulate the temperature inside the building and minimize the use of heating and air conditioning, each façade was designed in accordance with its exposure.
