Stop Fussing A dear old lady from the country went for the first time on a railway journey o f about fifty miles through an interesting and beautiful region. She had looked forward to this trip with great pleasure. She was to see so much and enjoy it all so greatly. But it took her so long to get her basket and parcels adjusted, her seat comfortably arranged, the shades right, that she was only just settling down to enjoy her trip when the con ductor called out the name o f her station, and she had to get up and hustle out. “ Oh, m y!” she said, “ If I’d only known that we would have been here so soon, I wouldn’t have wasted my time fussing.” Dear friend, the wheels of time are flying; the last station is at hand; these things are so trifling. Get your mind on the main business o f life. Live as you would wish to have lived when the porter calls out the last sta tion, and don’t waste any more time “ fussing.” — A. B. Simpson May your life be so filled with His love that when your enemies throw stones, you will drop down fruit upon them, instead of rocks''.

Valuable Stock A young man in one o f the hospi tals said carelessly, in reply to a re mark o f the surgeon, “ Oh yes, my folks are all religious—all the family a long way back. I don’t take much stock in that sort o f thing myself.” “ You have inherited stock in it, and very valuable stock,” gravely answered the surgeon attending him. “ I wouldn’t sneer at it if I were you. Do you know why you are recovering so rapidly—why the bones knit and the wound heals ? It is because those ancestors o f yours have bequeathed to you good, clean blood, and a sound, healthy constitution'--* the physical make-up of those who have kept God’s laws.” —Sunday at Home The highest duties o ft are found lying on the lowest ground, In hidden and unnoticed ways, in household works on common days. —Gospel Herald

I'm Following the Master I’m following the Master, I’m following the Lord; I’m keeping close to Jesus And I’m trusting in His Word. He leads me by His Spirit, He cleanses by His blood ; I’m keeping close to Jesus And I’m trusting in His Word. Whatever be my pathway, In sunshine or in rain; I know my life is safe with Him, I know the end is gain. I’m following the Master, I’m following the Lord; I’m keeping close to Jesus And I’m trusting in His Word. (Written by and found among the personal ef fects of Mrs. Stella Hutchens after her decease by her blind son, James, a Biola student). How Big Is God? The Milky Way is so big that it toould take light 100 million years to travel from one end o f it to the other. No wonder David said, “ Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dweUeth on high, who humbleth himself to be hold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!” (Psa. 113:5,6) —Selected The Bible and Education William Lyon Phelps, professor at Yale University, has stated: “ Every one who has a thorough knowledge o f the Bible may truly be called edu cated; and no other learning or cul ture, no matter how extensive or elegant, can form a proper substitute. I thoroughly believe in a university education for both men and women, but I believe a knowledge o f the Bible without a college course is more valu able than a college course without a knowledge o f the Bible.” One further point should be stressed. This “ thorough knowledge o f the Bible” needs to be a spiritual understanding of the Word o f God, supernaturally received by one who has personally found the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour and who finds the Bible living and powerful in his own daily experience. —Selected I find the name of Jesus Christ written on the top of every page of human history. —George Bancrofthistorian T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S

“I sat with a group of Jewish Christians in Munich, Germany”, relates our General Secretary, “ as they opened their hearts before me”. They said, ♦“Wir sind weder Fisch noch Fleisch”—we are neither fish nor fowl. “The Jews have washed .their hands of all responsibility to ward us. And because of our faith in Christ, to so-called Christians we are merely Jews.” Thousands of Jewish believers in Germany and elsewhere are victims of this double discrimination—suffering both as Jews and believers in our Lord. These impoverished, homeless, unemployed, persecuted thou sands, look to us of THE FRIENDS OF ISRAEL MISSIONARY AND RELIEF SOCIETY, for help to sustain their lives, with food and raiment; and for the ministry of the Word of God to comfort and cheer in a dreary existence. By the grace of God and through your prayerful devotion and sacrifice, we shall not fail them. If the Lord moves your heart, send your gifts to: THE FRIENDS OF ISRAEL
