“I will be the judge of that!” my mother said in a stern voice, as I surrendered my report card to her. For some time I had been pleading my case for the substandard grades that she would see. You know, trying to soften her initial reaction. I sure wanted to remain as her favorite kid!! That “favorite” part is debatable with my siblings and could probably be another story. Well, the good Lord must been watching that day because the situation I found myself in turned out just fine. Some 74 years later, whenever I hear, “I will be the judge of that,” I immediately turn in to a scared little 8-year-old kid knowing full well I had not done my best. Welcome to our 51 st Annual “Focus On Performance” Sale. We have done our best to offer another superb group of breeding bulls and females, and yes, we want you to be the judge of that! Never before in the history of this cow herd have we been in such a pinnacle position to provide the pure performance and quality like we will this year. Take advantage of this aspect to further enhance your bottom line with cattle that have been selected for nearly 100 years (actually 98 years) to be fertile, flesh easy, grow like the dickens, pound the scale, and do it year after year with unbelievable quality. Our experience has taught us that no matter how much AI’ing we do, five years down the road a high percentage of our cows will be sired by our own herd bulls. With that in mind, two years ago Tyler hit the road and sifted through 1000+ bulls. His mother drove him day and night to hurry the process along. The results were he found two bulls that met the Bush criterion based on numbers, pedigree, and phenotype. We managed to get one bull bought and did buy semen on the other. That is how the great breeding bull KR Premier was added to our battery of herd bulls we now own. His first progeny will sell this year, and they are outstanding. We added an impressive calving ease sire about the same time, Styles Agent, and his first get will be available as well. As a combined group, they will get your attention for quality besides their outstanding calving ease potential. We can’t leave out the old Everest sire. He has flat out right done it again with another solid sire group of excellent bulls as well as heifers. He may be the most consistent sire we have used in recent years. The exciting part is that our Bushs Custom Built 860 has again proven to be one-of-a-kind breeding bull when it comes to producing pounds in a package second to none for quality. Big Rok Angus of MN selected Cruise Control in our 2021 sale. He was the top-performing as well as the top-selling bull. How many sires look this good as a coming six year old? He is as good looking now as the first year we turned him out. This will be our fourth crop of progeny from this outstanding breeding bull. His calves have been the high-selling group as well as the high-performing bunch the previous 3 years. Everest produces calves as consistent as a roll of stamps. Foreman is the first of the two ET Feat-sired sons out of the donor cow 8408. His WEPD and YEPD rank top 10% in the breed. His $F ranks an impressive top 2%. He is a good-sized bull that is extremely long and loose in his frame work. The genomic rank for weaning was top 18% and yearling was 12%. His foot scores were top 2 and 5% of the breed. COULD BE USED ON HEIFERS This would be the twin to lot 3. It is absolutely amazing how close the genomics are between these ET brothers. They were identical in more ways than one! They have grown apart as this bull weighs some 65# heavier. He appears to be somewhat longer necked, longer sided, and little bolder in his structure. The excellent growth and maternal numbers listed for lot 3 would be the same for this guy. The opportunity to obtain a calving-ease bull with this kind of performance genetics and still have the quality and right look is hard to fine.

This is the natural calf out of the donor cow, 8408. He certainly fits in with her ET sons, the lots 1-5. Emblem is a stout, bold, growthy bull. He exhibits more spring to his upper rib. He also sustains his great muscle shape from front to rear. We like how he strides out and is so correct in his leg structure and bone. The Everest sire put his usual stamp of quality on this bull.
