Con un día de diferencia fallecieron estos premios nacionales de Arquitectura, dos figuras clave cuya mirada enriqueció la forma de ejercer y pensar la disciplina en nuestro país. These two national Architecture award recipients, who passed away one day apart, were key figures who enriched the architectural practice and thought in our country.

“Christian pasó por la vida como arquitecto. Dejó una abundante obra, sobre todo viviendas, tema donde se sentía más cómodo. Lo anterior no contradice su innegable destreza con otros programas, como el Hotel Ralún en el sur o el Banco del Estado en calle Moneda de Santiago, ambos ya destruidos. Sus casas mostraban un sello característico. Buscaban responder a la geografía y tenían un delicado pero contundente uso del hormigón armado, su expresión predilecta. Excelentes ejemplos son sus propias viviendas, la primera en calle Lota y la segunda en Lo Curro. Sin embargo, obras que se alejaban de dicha plástica se encuentran entre las más brillantes, como la Casa Edwards en Reñaca, la casa Matte en Zapallar o la Casa Vergara en Algarrobo. En ellas utilizó abundante piedra y madera, formando cálidos ambientes domésticos. Destaca también su oficio y decidida preocupación por la ciudad. Fue un enamorado de su profesión hasta sus últimos días”. "Christian lived his life as an architect. “Es una figura esencial dentro del Movimiento Moderno en Chile. La unión entre arquitectura, poesía y vida que proponía en conjunto con un grupo de poetas, artistas y otros arquitectos, dio origen a una de las expresiones más inéditas que Chile puede ofrecer al ámbito internacional. Cada proyecto era llevado a su formulación poética y luego traducido a un lenguaje plástico renovado continuamente partiendo de cero. Dibujaba y pensaba sin cesar, pero también conversaba y oía. Era un ser humano cálido, humilde y autocrítico. Sin duda un gran maestro”. "He is a fundamental figure within the Modern Movement in Chile. The connection between architecture, poetry and life he jointly proposed with a group of poets, artists and other architects, gave rise to one of the most original expressions that Chile can offer the world. Each project was brought into its poetic formulation and then translated to a visual language continually renewed from scratch. He was continuously drawing and thinking, but also talking and listening. He was a warm, humble and self-critical person. Without a doubt a great teacher."
