Alameda – Villavicencio Center CORMU Project
This triangular block is located between Alameda, Lastarria and Villavicencio- Namur streets. A pivotal place, articulator of a vast urban complex, beginning its new destiny: a sharp increase in density, a destiny shared by all modern capitals: the vertical stature. The first awareness should precisely be a view from a higher standpoint; embracing an urban perspective; defining the scope of urban value and the interactive functions between the various actors and their complementary interests. Let’s identify these established urban facts: - To the south of Alameda: San Borja, the Catholic University and the Hospital, a complex of great functional density. - To the north of the Alameda-Villavicencio triangle, the relationship with Mulato Gil square, Forest Park and the Museum of Fine Arts. - On the west, it connects with the Santa Lucia hill. At this point, it faces Agustinas street on the other side of the hill. Connecting this stretch with a shopping arcade under the hill, which could still receive sunlight through chimneys piercing the hill, would generate a synergy of great vitality between the dense city center and the sector. This triangle appears then as the great hall that combines multiple urban events and proposes at various levels: - On the ground/sidewalk level, a network of arcades with shops dedicated to art supplies. This network connects all possible destinations that surround this center. - In the center of the block, another entrance. With a double access, one at level and another in a gentle stairway that leads to a terrace covering the arcade system leading to Villavicencio and Lastarria, where it flows on to a square with buildings intended for artists and art events. - Within this area a high building connects at the level of the gallery, the current building located next to Gabriela Mistral Center (GAM). - Near the corner of Lastarria another high-rise is built to recover the density of the block. - The long front on Alameda is a great showcase for the exhibition of luxury shops.
Esta manzana triangular se ubica entre Alameda con Lastarria y Villavicencio- Namur. Un lugar pivote, articulador de un vasto complejo urbano, iniciando su nuevo destino: un fuerte aumento de densidad, un destino común a todas las capitales modernas, la estatura vertical. Su primera toma de conciencia debía ser precisamente una mirada desde la altura. Abarcar un horizonte urbano, definir el alcance del valor ciudadano y el funcionamiento interactivo entre los diferentes actores del sector y sus intereses complementarios. Nombremos estos hechos urbanos establecidos: - Al sur de la Alameda: San Borja, la Universidad Católica y el Hospital. Un conjunto de gran densidad funcional. - Al norte el triángulo Alameda-Villavicencio, relacionado con la plaza del Mulato Gil, el Parque Forestal y el Bellas Artes. - Por el poniente, se conecta con el Cerro Santa Lucía. En este punto, se enfrenta a través del cerro con calle Agustinas. Uniendo este tramo bajo el cerro con una galería comercial que aún podría recibir el sol a través de chimeneas penetrando el cerro, lo que generaría una sinergia de gran vitalidad entre el centro denso y este sector. Este triángulo aparece entonces como el gran hall que combina múltiples hechos urbanos y que se propone en varios niveles: -En planta, a nivel de la vereda, una red de galerías con locales dedicados a artículos de arte. Esta red intercomunica todos los posibles destinos que rodean este centro. - En el centro de la cuadra, posee otro ingreso. Este tiene un doble acceso: uno a nivel y otro en suave escalinata, que conduce a una terraza que cubre el sistema de galerías saliendo hacia Villavicencio y hacia Lastarria, donde se conforma una plazuela con edificios destinados para artistas y eventos artísticos. - Al interior de esta área se establece un edificio en altura a nivel de la galería; es el actual edificio que se ubica junto al Centro Gabriela Mistral (GAM). - Cercano a la esquina de Lastarria se ubica otro edificio en altura para recuperar la densidad de la manzana. - El frente largo sobre Alameda es una gran vitrina para la exhibición de tiendas de lujo.
