De los tiempos en que se presentan las obras y proyectos Las siguientes páginas exponen, en palabras del propio Miguel Eyquem, la descripción de los proyectos y obras que juntos -él y nosotros- hemos considerado relevantes para una primera mirada. Abarcan su trabajo como académico, ya sea en las travesías por América como la obras “en ronda” de la Ciudad Abierta; su contribución como urbanista durante su paso por la Corporación de Mejoramiento Urbano (CORMU) y su oficio de arquitecto en proyectos principalmente residenciales y comerciales. Son textos escritos en su mayoría en tiempo presente. Así, el hecho arquitectónico, independiente de su materialización, revela una condición particular de concebir los proyectos que no es contingente, sino permanente: presente. Es el acto arquitectónico que da origen o ha-lugar a la obra. Invención compleja que piensa, desde la observación, el regalo y el juego, a la obra siempre ahí. Son presentaciones que siguen e invitan a recorrer las obras en un trazado que va desde el lugar o sitio, a la invención de un tamaño habitable, hasta la levedad o economía de sus formas y materialidad. En lo posible hemos optado por exponer estos documentos junto a los croquis que dan cuenta del proceso de invención y las propuestas constructivas que ilustran la economía que las hace posibles 3 .
From the times when the works and projects are presented
The following pages present, in the words of Miguel Eyquem, the description of the projects and work which, he and we, together, have deemed relevant for a first approach. They cover his work as a teacher, either in the Expeditions through America or the “circle” works in the Open City; the contributions as a planner during his work at the Urban Improvement Corporation (CORMU) and his job as an architect in primarily residential and commercial projects. These texts are mostly written in present tense. Therefore the architectural fact, independent of its realization, reveals the particular condition of conceiving projects that are not contingent, but permanent: always in the present. It is the architectural act that gives rise or places[gives a place to] the work. A complex invention that - from observation, the given facts and the game - conceives the work always in that place. The presentations follow and invite to explore the works on a path that goes from the place or site, to the invention of a habitable dimension, to lightness or economy of forms and materiality. Where possible we have chosen to present these documents next to the sketches that show the process of invention and the constructive proposals that illustrate the economy that makes them possible 3 .
