Reconocidos por la delicada y novedosa expresión de sus diseños, su portafolio de obras ha alimentado tres monografías de El Croquis y se anuncia una cuarta. Todo desde el cuartel general de Olot, donde hacen arquitectura y también piezas de diseño, papelería y mobiliario, además de compartir conocimientos y reflexiones en animados workshop con jóvenes. Hace algunas semanas Rafael Aranda (52) llegó por primera vez a Sudamérica, en un breve viaje en que ofreció tres charlas magistrales, una en Chile y dos en Argentina, y en que se reunió a conversar de arquitectura con Yves Besançon, presidente de la AOA, Carlos Alberto Urzúa, director de Publicaciones, y Fernando Marín, decano de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Mayor, una de las instituciones gestoras del viaje. Yves Besançon: Ustedes suelen decir que “los arquitectos somos soñadores y nuestra especialidad es hacer los sueños realidad. Esta capacidad es nuestro verdadero patrimonio”. Es algo así como la declaración de principios de RCR. En la práctica, ¿cómo sueñan y hacen esos sueños realidad? - Para nosotros es intentar encontrar caminos que no son conocidos. Lo que nos define es replantear conceptos. Veamos por ejemplo el conjunto de Les Cols, cerca de Olot, un restaurante donde además agregamos pabellones para dormir. ¿Cómo tiene que ser un restaurante, cómo el alojamiento? ¿Cómo debe ser el espacio donde hacer un banquete? Ir de la mano de un cliente que también está dispuesto a replantearse las preguntas es lo máximo que puedes pedir. Porque puedes entrar en este camino que te permitirá llegar a lo no conocido, definir una propuesta que será un nuevo sueño. Consider for example the complex of Les Cols, near Olot, a restaurant where we added pavilions for sleeping … How is a restaurant supposed to be? How about lodging? What about the space for banquets? To be able to go hand in hand with a client who is also willing to rethink these questions is the best we can ask for. Because you can enter this path that will lead to the unknown, define a proposal that will become a new dream.
