Este ensayo se propone abordar, desde la perspectiva que otorga el presente, cómo esta definición de la arquitectura inaugura para ésta y la modernidad en América un nuevo modo de concebirse. Hemos querido hacerlo recurriendo permanentemente a la palabra dicha por Alberto Cruz Covarrubias (Premio Nacional de Arquitectura 1975), y de este modo ubicarnos nosotros, los autores, unos cuantos pasos atrás. Cada cual abordó uno de estos conceptos para expandirlos en la obra edificada, escrita y plástica de Cruz C. Esta modalidad coral resuena con lo que él mismo llamó “la ronda”, aquel modo de obrar en común. This essay seeks to address, from the perspective afforded by the present, how this definition of architecture, opens for the present and for the modernity in America a new way of conceiving. We wanted to do so by permanently referring to the words of Alberto Cruz Covarrubias (National Architecture Prize 1975), and in this manner locate ourselves, the authors, some steps behind. Each one addresses one of these concepts to expand them with the built, written and plastic work of Cruz C. This form of advisory resonates with what he himself called “the panel”, that way of acting in union with everyone.
