Los Domínicos Subway Station The Los Domínicos Station is constituted as a terminal station and as a connection point with the future Mode Interchange Building and parking, to be situated in the Los Dominicos Square. It is characterized as being a building of large proportions, constructed by a rectangular excavation where the technical and service rooms and mezzanine are located. From the mezzanine one accesses the station tunnel where the platforms are. On the surface street level there are three aedicules and a lift, the only built elements which reveal the existence of the station building below; the disposition of these elements and their materiality attempts to reinforce the existing processional axis towards the church that gives name to the sector, contributing to orient and to order the intense pedestrian flow with their presence.

The main cladding materials of the stations are ceramic, porcelain floor tiles, bush-hammered concrete walls and metal panels on the ceilings, plus the high compression fibre-cement plates, chosen and carefully lit to emphasize their colouring. The sizing of each element adapts to the forms and special conditions of underground enclosures intrinsic of these buildings. For the Los Domínicos station, colours that reflect the situation in the surface were chosen, primarily green from the square and white from the heritage buildings. For the Hernando de Magallanes station, tones of sea blue were chosen –in reference to the historical personage; finally, for the Manquehue Station it was decided on earthy colours of the varied landscape of clay and rocks of the Manquehue Hill that presides over the station in the distance.
