Para abordar estratégicamente esta remodelación se realizó un plan maestro que ordenó una línea de acción cuyos puntos principales fueron: 1. Accesibilidad y desplazamientos masivos. Mediante el estudio del comportamiento y hábitos de distintos grupos de espectadores, se ideó un sistema de áreas confinadas (‘buffers’) y barandas canalizadoras (‘encauzadores’), que ordenaron los accesos permitiendo un desplazamiento fluido y seguro en la entrada y salida del recinto. 2. Vialidad, estacionamiento y paisajismo. Se realizó un plan de pavimentación de áreas destinadas a estacionamientos y vías peatonales incorporando nuevos accesos y trazados. Paralelamente se diseñó un proyecto de paisajismo enfocado a generar colchones verdes entre las áreas peatonales y vehiculares y acentuar, mediante un cordón verde, la orbital peatonal que rodea el estadio. 3. Baños. Se remodelaron todos los baños públicos, incorporando en su diseño soluciones antivandálicas. 4. Graderías. Se instalaron butacas individuales en todo el estadio a partir de un nuevo trazado de sectores, generando un orden funcional en el control de espectadores. Se utilizaron butacas de acero electropintado con respaldos y asientos de plástico en dos colores, según un diseño general que consistió en un gran manto pixelado que pasa de negro a blanco. Este diseño logra dar un carácter activo al recinto independiente de la cantidad de público, y al mismo tiempo entrega una imagen emblemática y potente.
In order to strategically approach this remodelling, a master plan was made guiding a line of action, whose main points were: 1. Massive accessibility and displacements. Through a study of the behaviour and habits of different spectators groups, a system was devised which composed of confined areas (`buffers') and channelling railings (`guiders'). These ordered the accesses, allowing a fluid and safe displacement in both entrance and exit. 2. Road, parking and landscaping. A paving plan of areas destined to parking and to pedestrian paths was elaborated incorporating new accesses and layouts. A landscape project, focusing in generating green mattresses between the pedestrian and car areas was designed in parallel, and to accentuate, by means of a green cord, the pedestrian orbital that surrounds the stadium. 3. Bathrooms. All the public bathrooms were remodelled, incorporating anti-vandalism solutions in their design. 4. Stands. Individual seats, laid out in new sectors, were installed in the whole stadium, generating a functional order in the control of spectators. Steel painted armchairs with endorsements, and plastic seats, were used in two colours according to a design that consisted of a great mantle of black and white. This design achieves in giving an active character to the stadium regardless of the amount of public, and at the same time provides an emblematic and powerful image.
