Una selección de más de 260 croquis reúne el segundo volumen de la serie editada por Publicaciones AOA, que esta vez recopila los dibujos hechos por un grupo de 11 profesionales socios durante las cuatro giras tecnológicas realizadas por la Asociación de Oficinas de Arquitectos de Chile durante 2007 y 2008, como parte de sus iniciativas de actualización de conocimientos técnicos y arquitectónicos. Se trata de un singular y muy personal recorrido por India, Dubai y Abu Dhabi, Inglaterra y Holanda, Cuba y, por último, el Sudeste Asiático, bajo la mirada y pluma de los arquitectos Carlos Alberto Urzúa – quien además dirigió la edición – , Cristián Boza, José Gabriel Alemparte, Andrés Briones, José Antonio de Frutos, Fernando Guarello, Jorge Iglesis, Raúl Irarrázabal, Charles Murray, David Rodríguez e Iván Vial, todos ellos también talentosos croquistas. Sus diversas y versátiles miradas constituyen un viaje por la expresividad y subjetividad del trazo frente a la arquitectura y el paisaje, como destaca la presentación hecha por la Corporación Patrimonio Cultural de Chile, entidad que patrocinó la realización del libro en reconocimiento a su calidad y aporte cultural. A selection of more than 260 sketches are united in this second volume of this series edited by AOA Publications, which this time round compiles drawings done by a group of 11 member professionals during the four technological tours carried out by the Architectural Office Association of Chile during 2007 and 2008, as part of its initiative of technical and architectural knowledge updates. It is about an unique and very personal journey through India, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, England and Holland, Cuba and lastly Southeast Asia, under the eye and pencil of the architects Carlos Alberto Urzúa –who also directed the edition–, Cristián Boza, José Gabriel Alemparte, Andrés Briones, José Antonio de Frutos, Fernando Guarello, Jorge Iglesis, Raúl Irarrázabal, Charles Murray, David Rodríguez and Iván Vial, all of them also talented sketch artists. Their diverse and versatile sight constitutes a journey through expression and subjectivity of the drawing line regarding architecture and the landscape, as is highlighted in the presentation done by the Cultural Patrimony Corporation of Chile, organization that sponsored the book in recognition to its quality and cultural contribution.
Los resultados de una encuesta hecha por la Universidad del Desarrollo acerca de Santiago impulsaron la realización de este libro, desarrollado en conjunto por la Facultad de Arquitectura y Arte y el área de Publicaciones de la AOA. Su objetivo, mostrar la percepción y opinión que los habitantes tienen de su ciudad, que forma parte importante de su espacio existencial. Así, más allá de la visión de arquitectos, sociólogos o urbanistas, surgieron los 14 lugares que en definitiva constituyen el ‘alma’ de nuestra capital, los cuales inspiraron los textos a cargo de académicos de la UDD, en su mayoría arquitectos. El libro se complementa con numerosas imágenes que nos permiten una nueva y más amable mirada sobre la ciudad. “Santiago fue amada de nuevo, como en los comienzos. Amada como hay que amar, con sus defectos, sus sombras, sus errores y una belleza que no está en los libros sino en las calles caminadas, en los rincones, en los lugares donde se amó y sufrió. Porque sólo puede hablar y decir una ciudad quien amó y sufrió en ella”, según se lee en el evocador cierre escrito por Cristián Warnken, decano de la Facultad de Educación y Humanidades UDD. The results of a survey carried out by the University of Development (Universidad del Desarrollo - UDD) on Santiago, generated this book, developed in conjunction with the College of Architecture and Art and the Publications area of the AOA. Its objective was to illustrate the perception and opinion that habitants have of their city, which is an important part of its existential space. Thus, beyond the vision of architects, sociologists or city planners, the 14 places that really constitute the `soul’ of our capital arose, which inspired texts by UDD faculty, on the majority architects. The book is complimented with numerous images that allow a new and more amicable relationship with the city. “Santiago was loved once again as in the start. Loved as it has to be, with its defects, its shadows, its errors and a beauty that is not in the books, but is in the streets, in the corners, in the places where one has loved and suffered. Because only those who have loved and suffered in a city, can talk and say” according to the evocative closing written by Cristián Warnken, dean of the Faculty of Education and Humanities UDD (University of Development).
