3. Iluminación natural : el proyecto contempla generosos patios de luz, que iluminan las salas de exposición por los lados oriente y poniente a través de cerramientos vidriados. Su situación bajo la cota permite que la luz llegue por rebote sin impactar directamente con los poco deseados rayos del sol en programas de esta naturaleza. Existen tres patios de iluminación, el norte, el sur y el poniente. Cada patio tiene un carácter distinto: el norte es un patio de agua, el sur un patio duro y el poniente una “cascada” verde de vegetación. 4. Recorrido y programa: el recorrido está planteado en tres etapas, el acceso, el descenso y la culminación, siguiendo un hilo conductor donde el visitante es estimulado por la arquitectura. 5. Aspectos normativos: se consideran todos los aspectos normativos que limitan el terreno como los distanciamientos a medianeros, alturas máximas permitidas, rasantes, constructibilidades máximas y ocupación de primer piso. Es por ello que la mayoría del programa se encuentra bajo la cota cero y lo único construido como superficie municipal nueva son los 200 m² del área de cafetería. 6. Preexistencias: fundamental a considerar en la propuesta es el patrimonio vegetal constituido por los árboles y especies existentes en el actual jardín. Pese a la radicalidad y fuerza del gesto arquitectónico, la incidencia en los árboles afectados es mínima, como lo demuestra el plano respectivo. Mantener la privacidad con las edificaciones vecinas es también fundamental.
3. Natural lighting: the project incorporates large light courts, illuminating the exhibition halls on the east and west sides through glass enclosures. Their location below grade allows light to bounce in without hitting directly and avoiding the unwelcome sun’s rays in programs of this nature. There are three light courts, to the north, south and west. Each patio has a different character: The northern one is a water playground, the southern a paved courtyard and the western a green “cascade” of vegetation. 4. Route and program: the course is divided in three stages: access, descent and culmination, following a thread where the visitor is stimulated by the architecture. 5. Regulatory aspects: all regulatory issues that restrict the plot such as distancing to site limits, maximum heights, maximum first level occupancy and construction ratios are considered. This explains why most of the program is underground and the only construction considered “new built area” is the 200 m² cafeteria. 6. Pre existing conditions: The green heritage of trees and existing species of the present garden is essential to the proposal. Despite the radical nature and strength of the architectural gesture, the impact on affected trees is minimal as evidenced by the respective drawing. Maintaining privacy with neighboring buildings is also critical.
