A modo de cierre Revivir con cariño mi participación en el trabajo proyectual y constructivo de la iglesia de la hoy Abadía Benedictina de Las Condes y el largo tiempo vivido en el convento hace ya cerca de 50 años, me recuerdan los esfuerzos y angustias, compensadas por las alegrías de los descubrimientos y las conquistas arquitectónicas, que sintió el Hermano Martin en carne propia, describiéndolos con mucha transparencia y espontaneidad en sus respuestas a mis provocaciones. No solo se trata de una muy buena obra de arquitectura más, mérito de por sí notable, sino -como él lo señala- es una iglesia que se descubre y presenta como un medio que estimula la fe y el encuentro con Dios, que se convierte en una experiencia positiva para los creyentes, que provoca alegría espiritual y que hace un llamado en su espacio y luminosidad a la contemplación y la paz, lo que sin duda llena de gozo. Estoy seguro que el reencuentro con la arquitectura, después de muchos años, ha sido una experiencia enriquecedora para estos monjes que cambiaron su futuro de arquitectos por la vida monacal, demostrando que la creación de una obra es un estado de gracia que debemos estar dispuestos a percibir, recoger, traducir y agradecer. Las intervenciones que se sumaron a lo existente no podrían traicionar el legado de Jaime Bellalta y la calidad de lo realizado en la iglesia, obras que hoy día constituyen un patrimonio nacional.
By way of conclusion
While fondly reliving my participation in the design and construction work of the church of the Benedictine Abbey of Las Condes, and the long time spent in the convent almost 50 years ago, I recall the efforts and anxieties, offset by the joys of discovery and the architectural achievements that Brother Martín felt firsthand, describing with great transparency and spontaneity in his responses to my provocations. It not only is one more great work of architecture, a remarkable merit in itself, but, as he points out, it is a church that is discovered and presented as a means to stimulate faith and the encounter with God, becoming a positive experience for the faithful, causing spiritual happiness and inviting with its space and light to contemplation and peace, undoubtedly filling with joy. I'm certain the reencounter with architecture, after many years, has been an enriching experience for these monks who traded their future as architects for the monastic life, showing that the creation of a work is a state of grace that we must be willing to perceive, collect, translate and appreciate. The interventions that were added to the existing buildings could not betray the legacy of Jaime Bellalta and the quality of the work performed in the church, works that today constitute our heritage.

Experto en temas de planificación, medio ambiente y patrimonio, ha sido consultor de organismos internacionales. Varias de sus obras y trayectoria han recibido premios y distinciones. Ex presidente del Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile en dos periodos.
