Due to its exposure the facade serves to protect from excessive sunlight and at the same time deliver a corporate image in line with the rest of the complex. Therefore a translucent metallic screen was designed to face the road but detach from the main body of the building, operation that creates and protects a shaded courtyard for the worker’s rest periods. The volumetric composition of the complex involves a glass box. This element contains the vertical circulation that connects the two levels of the building with the roof, and constituting, in first place, the main access to the building. The presence of this glass prism within the complex is a landmark that lessens the weight and opacity of the industrial compound. The first level contains a dining area with continuous use, where the workers from the different units meet in shifts. The second level is made up of offices and laboratories, and is connected by bridges to two adjacent plants: this is essential in winter to provide workers protection from the rain when going to the dining area and not contaminate their attire while going outside, keeping the required standards of hygiene. Finally, the third level is designed as a roof terrace destined for events and employee recreation.
