La edificación original de Correos, inaugurada en 1930, fue construida en hormigón armado en un estilo neoclásico. Presenta un programa arquitectónico en tres niveles y subterráneos, como un edificio esquina con rótula y cúpula. El proyecto de remodelación optó por una habilitación restaurativa, adaptando todo el volumen hacia la plaza en tres pisos y subterráneo para bibliotecas y oficinas. La intervención principal partió de limpiar todas las modificaciones realizadas en el tiempo, a fin de rescatar la estructura original: en el primer piso presentaba una bóveda como hall de acceso principal, en tres niveles, dejando dos patios exteriores abiertos en sus costados. Aprovechando las losas existentes, diversos recintos provisorios se habían construido sobre esta bóveda. The original Postal Service building, opened in 1930, was built of reinforced concrete in a neoclassical style. It presents an architectural program in three levels plus basements, designed as a corner building with drum and cupola. The renovation project chose a restorative habilitation, modifying the entire volume facing the square on three floors plus the underground level for libraries and offices. The main intervention began by clearing all the modifications made in the past in order to recover the original structure: the first floor presented a three story high dome as the main entrance hall, leaving two open courtyards at the sides. Using the existing slabs, several temporary enclosures had been built over this vault.
