La propuesta buscó integrar una nueva espacialidad sobre el hall principal, retirando todas las edificaciones y aprovechando las losas como pisos abiertos. Sobre el gran vacío central se generó una gran cubierta, que incorporó uno de los patios laterales y conformó un gran hall sobre el existente para albergar la nueva biblioteca. La intervención aporta un lenguaje moderno asociado a un gran espacio que integra diversos niveles, todos conectados y homogéneamente iluminados a través de la cubierta. Esta consiste en una lucarna más una celosía en el cielo, diseñado en base al análisis solar del inmueble con el objetivo de lograr una iluminación pareja en todos los recintos. En la obra conviven dos lenguajes arquitectónicos: el clásico de la edificación existente, a través de todos los recintos restaurados en el primer piso, y el moderno, asociado a los programas sobre el hall principal. El proyecto no solo consideró el diseño, sino también la renovación de todas las instalaciones eléctricas, sanitarias, iluminación, climatización y seguridad, de acuerdo a lo propuesto. También se recuperaron las fachadas (exterior e interior) al homogenizar las puertas, ventanas y rejas según el diseño original. The proposal sought to incorporate a new spatial condition over the main hall, removing all constructions and using the slabs as open plan floors. A large cover was built over the great central void, incorporating one of the side courtyards and generating a great hall on top of the existing one to house the new library. The intervention incorporates a modern language associated with a large space that integrates various levels, all connected and evenly illuminated through the roof. This consists of a skylight and a set of louvers in the ceiling, designed based on the solar analysis of the property to achieve even lighting in all the premises. Two architectural languages coexist in the work: the classical of the existing building, throughout all the restored rooms on the first floor, and the modern, associated with programs above the main hall. The project not only considered the design but also the upgrading of all electrical, sanitary, lighting, HVAC and safety installations according to the proposal. The facades (exterior and interior) were also recovered by standardizing the doors, windows and protection grilles according to the original design.
