El pabellón Se propone una gran “viga habitada” de madera laminada donde lo tectónico y lo artesanal aparecen como una estrategia de resistencia frente a la seducción del espectáculo. El esqueleto, que es a la vez estructura y exposición, se posa sobre cuatro bases de hormigón liberando el suelo para construir un espacio intermedio, un horizonte templado, propio de la arquitectura chilena. Esta estrategia minimiza el impacto sobre el suelo. A nivel de calle, este espacio es transparente y se ofrece como una sombra al visitante. Aquí se ubican los accesos y servicios del pabellón, mientras que la exposición temática se desarrolla en el trayecto ascendente y al interior de la viga. Desde la distancia el pabellón aparece como una totalidad (escala monumental), mientras en la inmediatez aparece el fragmento, el despiece, que nos relaciona con el cuerpo y le confiere una escala humana. El pabellón es un recorrido por Chile, donde la madera, como materia sensorial, también se hace parte de la geografía de cultivos. El recorrido se inicia en una rampa mecánica ascendente y se divide en cinco momentos, aprovechando lo extenso que la misma condición longitudinal del terreno propone. La simpleza de la planta favorece nuevos usos que otorgarán un vigor renovado a esta arquitectura transitoria. Las dimensiones y características de la estructura hacen posible que estos nuevos usos se realicen con cambios mínimos a la panelería existente. Consecuente con este espíritu sustentable, la racionalidad constructiva permite un rápido armado y desarmado para un eventual traslado y reutilización. The pavilion We propose a laminated wood “inhabited beam” where tectonics and craftsmanship appear as a strategy of resistance to the seduction of the spectacle. The skeleton, which is both structure and exhibition, sits on four concrete bases clearing the floor and building an intermediate space, a tempered horizon, a typical Chilean architectural feature. This approach minimizes the impact on the ground. At street level, this space is transparent and is offered to the visitor as a shaded space. The pavilion entrances and services are located here, while the thematic exhibition takes place in the ascending path and inside the beam. From a distance the pavilion appears as a whole (monumental scale), while in the immediacy it is the fragment, the piecing, which link us to the body and gives it a human scale. The pavilion is a journey through Chile, where wood, as sensory material, also becomes part of the geography of the crops. The tour starts with an ascending mechanical ramp and is divided into five stages, taking advantage of the extension the same longitudinal condition of the plot proposes. The simplicity of the plan encourages new uses that will give renewed vigor to this temporary architecture. The dimensions and characteristics of the structure allow for these new uses to be made with minimal changes to the existing paneling. Consistent with this sustainable spirit, constructive rationality allows for a quick assembly and disassembly for possible transfer and reuse.
