Aprovechando la coincidencia en la proporción larga y angosta de nuestro territorio con las proporciones del lote asignado, proponemos presentar Chile mediante un gran espacio unitario y lineal, contenido y protegido por elementos que simbolizan nuestras barreras naturales, geográficas y demográficas y que brinde una experiencia multi sensorial. En relación con el territorio se proponen tres elementos: mar, tierra y cordillera. El espacio descubierto se transforma en un cuerpo de agua, que actúa como una barrera horizontal, elevada sobre el nivel de calle para potenciar la fachada principal. Dentro del espacio prevalece un gran volumen de cobre, que alude a la riqueza mineral de la cordillera. En medio aparece un zócalo inclinado revestido en piedra volcánica, que alude al suelo y a la condición tectónica. Lo “humano” se representa por una envolvente de cartón prensado cuyos cortes simbolizan la edad de la República de Chile a 2015. Taking advantage of the coincidence of the long and narrow proportion of our territory with the proportions of the assigned lot, we intend to present Chile by means of a large unitary linear space, contained and protected by elements that symbolize our natural, geographic and demographic barriers, and providing a multi sensory experience. Three elements are proposed with regards to the territory: sea, land and mountains. The uncovered space is transformed into a body of water, which acts as a horizontal barrier, raised above street level to enhance the main facade. Within the space a large volume of copper takes center stage, suggesting the mineral wealth of the mountains. In the center a sloping plinth appears clad in volcanic rock, referring to the land and the tectonic condition. A cardboard shell represents the “human” condition, with cuts that symbolize the age of the Republic of Chile until 2015.
