YU Sephardic Programs: On the Rise Highlighting the record increase in Sephardic undergraduate enrollment at YU, more than 40 current and potential Sephardic students in the YU Israel program turned out for a recruitment

dinner in Jerusalem, co-sponsored by the YU Israel Office and the YU Sephardic Program; the event encouraged students from the Syrian- Sephardic community to feel that YU is there home away from home. The Sephardic Program welcomed a new Sefer Torah

in the Sephardic Beit Midrash, which was welcomed with the singing of sacred Pizmonim. Beginning in spring 2023, Rabbi Joey Soffer, an associate Rabbi at Syrian Congregation Bnei Yitzhak in Brooklyn, began leading a learning group at YU in the Sephardic Beit Midrash. READ MORE

YU Innovation Lab and Shevet Glaubach Center Kicks Off Second Annual Innovation Challenge The Innovation Challenge is a pitch compe- tition featuring 12 YU student teams who will attend a series of workshops, led by successful entrepreneurs and executives. This hands-on coaching helps participants transform their business ideas into pitch- ready concepts and gain vital entrepreneur- ial training. A grand pitch competition will be held on March 20th, with the winning team receiving a $1,000 grant to kick-start their business. READ MORE

From Terrorism to Climate Change, Young Diplomats Take on Y.U. Model U.N. YU hosted the 33rd annual National Model United Nations (YUNMUN) event, which brought together 370 high school delegates from 42 schools from the U.S., Brazil, Can- ada, and Israel. The three-day competition featured simulated U.N. committee debates and provided an opportunity for students to develop their debating skills while gaining insight into the importance of international diplomacy. YU Opens Advanced Cyber Center to Train Students

On March 8, YU’s Katz School of Science and Health opened the Security Operations Center to provide hands-on cyber-security training to students. The first of its kind in New York City, the center provides advanced simulations so students can gain real-world experience in countering multiple attack vectors, managing a virtual enterprise network and working with commercial grade security tools.
