En una zona que enfrenta la creciente emigración de jóvenes, Puerto Chacabuco presenta las características necesarias para cumplir un rol integrador de la comuna y la provincia. A partir de la actividad portuaria y pesquera es posible potenciar y aumentar los niveles de participación de la comunidad a través de la educación transversal. Se plantea entonces un liceo técnico acuícola (480 alumnos) que conjugue educación tradicional con los conocimientos técnicos y experiencia de los propios habitantes. Se busca que la población se integre a este espacio y haga uso continuo de las instalaciones, tanto para labores productivas como recreativas (teatro, talleres, etc.). La infraestructura debe dar cabida a las necesidades programáticas básicas de una escuela (salas de clases, biblioteca, servicios, comedor, etc.) y a los requerimientos de la educación técnica (carpintería de orilla, talleres de especialidad), contemplando un muelle flotante que permita movilizar las jaulas de cultivo así como cumplir las funciones de embarcadero para los pescadores locales. In an area facing increasing emigration of its youth, Puerto Chacabuco has the necessary characteristics to fulfill an integrating role in the municipality and the province. From its port and fishing activity it's possible to enhance and increase levels of community involvement through cross education. The proposal is therefore an aquaculture technical school (480 students) that combines traditional education with the expertise and experience of its own inhabitants. The goal is for people to become part of this space and make continuous use of the facilities, both for productive work and recreation (theater, workshops and so on). The infrastructure must accommodate the basic program needs of a school (classrooms, library, services, dining, etc.) and the requirements of technical education (shore carpentry, specialty workshops), including a floating dock to allow for the movement of the cultivation cages and perform the functions of pier for local fishermen.
