El parque y su casona son parte de la historia de San Bernardo. Con varias intervenciones, la casa patronal fue sumando graves deterioros en el tiempo, disimulados tras su imponente fachada. Luego de un riguroso diagnóstico, la recuperación del inmueble tomó cuatro años y abarcó fundaciones, estructuras de muros y techumbres. The park and its house are part of the history of San Bernardo. With many interventions, the manor house added disrepair upon disrepair over time, concealed behind its imposing facade. After a strict process of diagnosis, the recovery of the building took four years and involved foundations, wall structures and roofing.
Como una verdadera ‘cirugía integral’, el trabajo de recuperación consistió en respetar el concepto original tanto en el diseño como en los materiales, donde el adobe y las vigas de madera eran lo fundamental. Sin embargo, las continuas intervenciones y la falta de mantención no hicieron imposible reconstruir la casa original, terminada en 1922 y a la que en los años 50 se agregó un segundo piso que aportó la imagen actual estilo Giorgian Plantation. La estrategia de reconstrucción optó por mantener esta imagen, impresa en la memoria colectiva de San Bernardo. Todos los materiales se reutilizaron, agregándose al barro ciertos aditivos y pastas semiplásticas para mayor durabilidad. Esto se combinó con cuidadas faenas a fin de instalar sistemas eléctricos y redes computacionales. A truly comprehensive surgery, the restoration work respected the original concept in design and material choices, with adobe and wooden beams were fundamental. However, the continuous interventions and lack of maintenance made impossible to rebuild the original house, finished in 1922. In 1950, a second story was added, and the present Georgia Plantation styled image. The reconstruction strategy decided to maintain this image, already set in the collective memory of San Bernardo. All materials were reused. Certain additives and semi plastic compounds were added to the mud for better durability. This combined with careful site work in order to install electrical systems and computer networks.
