Since then he devoted his free time to draw and paint in oil, watercolor and egg tempera, leaving more than 300 works that reflect his travels, cities walked and landscapes visited, architecture works and portraits of friends and family.

Rodulfo Amando Oyarzún Philippi was born in Santiago in 1895 and studied at the National Institute. His vocation for architecture starts at age 17 after completing a semester in the fields of History of Ancient Art, Drawing and Construction at the Polytechnic of Charlottenburg in Berlin. Between 1913 and 1917 he studied architecture at the University of Chile, receiving an academic training based on the Beaux Arts school. For his degree project he developed a neoclassical building for the National Library and Historical Museum of Santiago.
