Established in 1916 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word as the Michael Meagher Memorial Hospital, CHRISTUS St. Michael continues to focus on their founding mission to “Extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.” Our health care ministry provides patient- centered quality care through the Center for Joint Replacement, our designated Primary Stroke Center, the region’s only Level III NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care unit), the region’s only comprehensive cancer treatment center, as well as day surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, diagnostic radiology, therapeutic and wellness programs. Wadley Regional Medical Center is an acute care hospital that has served the Texarkana community since 1900. Wadley provides service to the people in a 16-county region in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. They offer a full range of health care services including cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, senior care, women’s services, obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, diagnostic and imaging services, wound care, breast health, 24-hour emergency care, critical care, intensive care, and rehab services. Bringing technology and services to the community is a long- time tradition of Wadley. As the first hospital in Texarkana to achieve certification by The Joint Commission in 2008 as a Primary Stroke Center and designated by the State of Texas as Primary Stroke Center in 2009, Wadley is considered the area leader in stroke care. Wadley has the only mobile unit, the Wadley Scan, to provide non-invasive, cost-effective tests to determine risks for having a stroke or heart attack. Minimally invasive surgery was also brought to the community in 2009 by Wadley through the introduction of robotic surgery with the da Vinci SI surgical system.
