A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
The first round of Year 7 monitoring data has now been emailed to parents. The focus was on how well students engage with their learning in each subject. I was pleased to see very positive feedback for the year group and I was delighted to see a number of students commended for their excellent attitude to learning. If you haven’t receive your child’s monitoring information, please check your junk/spam before getting in touch. If you need to contact us then please email ks3@waldegravesch.org . We were very pleased to welcome Show Racism the Red Card to Waldegrave on Monday to run a series of sessions with our Year 7 students. SRtRC is an organisation that Waldegrave school has a very strong relationship with, and it was a pleasure to have Jack, Leon and Gracie deliver their important message to our new cohort. The sessions went really well with students getting involved in important discussions with one another and the visiting educators. On Tuesday we commemorated Remembrance Day with an assembly. Today a group of students played the Last Post live around the school, followed by the whole school observing a minute’s silence. The form group leading the way in this week’s housepoint chart is 7EST. 7EDA are in hot pursuit with 7SSH in third place. House points can be used to ‘purchase’ items from the epraise rewards shop with gifts ranking from canteen passes to High Street store vouchers. This will not affect their totals however. Congratulations to Minnie M in 7FLE and Daisy G in 7EDA who have both qualified to represent Richmond in their U13 girls team for the London Youth Games Cross Country race at Parliament Hill on Saturday 18 November! They both represented Richmond for the first time last year in their U11 team where they won a bronze medal. Keep up the hard work, we wish you the best of luck! Please ensure your child is bringing their chromebooks to school fully charged each day as they are an important part of lessons. As we go through the year, it is not unusual for our students to misplace an item of clothing such as a jumper etc. To enable us to swiftly reunite your child with their clothing, please ensure that your child’s name is clearly marked in all of their belongings, particularly their chromebook.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
Impossible Creatures - Katherine Rundell
If you enjoy Katherine Rundell’s The Wolf Wilder , then I highly recommend her newest book. A gripping fantasy novel, Rundell takes readers into the magical Archipelago, where mythical creatures exist but are under threat. Two children discover their hidden talents and their bravery is tested as they quest to save the source of the magic, on which all the creatures depend.
