Alba and Agudelo, with its 13th-century church of San Martín. If you have free time in the afternoon, have a walk around Caldas de Reis to explore the town and the church of Santa María de Caldas. Finish walk: Caldas de Rei. Afternoon coach transfer: from Caldas de Rei to Pontevedra. Overnight hotel: Pontevedra. Sun 04 Oct – Day 5
Arrive into Santiago, and a scheduled coach transfer will take you to Valença on the Portugal - Spain border where you will be based for two nights. Overnight hotel: Valença. Thu 01 Oct – Day 2 Route: Walk from Oia – Redondela (21 Km) Morning coach transfer from Valença to Oia for the start of the first day’s walk. In this stage you will pass through different villages with their chapels, many of them in Romanesque style, such as the chapel of Santa Maria, Santa Eulalia de Mos or Santiaguiño de Antas. Before arriving in Redondela we have a nice view of the coast and the bridge, Puente de Rande that was built to cross the estuary of Vigo. If you have time in Redondela before the coach transfer arrives, you can visit the church of Santiago. Finish walk: Redondela. Afternoon coach transfer: from Redondela to Valença. Galician “hórreos”, raised stone or wooden granaries used to store crops and dry meat. Continue to Padrón, an important Camino town where, according to legend, St. James arrived by stone boat before his remains were taken to Santiago. The region is also renowned for Padrón peppers, small peppers fried in olive oil, where some are mild and others unexpectedly spicy. Finish walk: Padrón. Walking through peaceful woodlands, we ascend toward Milladoiro, catch sight of Santiago’s cathedral, cross the River Sar, and enter the historic heart of Santiago de Compostela. Wed 07 Oct – Day 8 Transfer to Santiago de Compostela Airport and flight back home.
