Y10 Bulletin 10.11.23

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10

A big welcome back for this busy half term which will see our students getting a huge amount of learning com- pleted as the days draw in and the nights get longer. I hope everyone had a lovely half term break, getting plenty of rest! We had a wonderful time on Monday after school with the Year 10 bake off representatives whisking and melting, chopping and piping their cakes as they participated in the Great Waldegrave Bake Off. On Tuesday the staff descended on the creations and graded all the cakes in a variety of categories to find the overall winners, which were Abi, Hasna and Ofeliya in 10FJA. Well done to all who took part. This week our Product Design students of product design have gone to the Victoria and Albert museum to look into the development of products over the ages. Our top epraise scorer of the week is Daniela S in 10SHO followed closely by Lexie T in 10EHA, Aditi A in 10FJA and Sami I in 10SHO. Keep up the good work!

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Once, Now, Then, After... - Morris Gleitzman “Everybody deserves to have something good in their life at least once.” The seven book series by Morris Gleitzman is a gripping read surrounding the story of a young Jewish boy during World War Two. He is determined to run away from his orphanage and save his parents from the Nazis. I loved this series because it is very emotional and intriguing. You grow to connect to the characters on a personal level and develop a deeper understanding of what people went through during the war. ~ Recommended by Yasemin A, Year 11 student
