Texarkana Independent School District (TISD), founded in 1889, is committed to providing innovative educational opportunities that prepare nearly 7,000 students for success in the future. The district offers a rigorous Pre-K through high school curriculum, focusing on hands-on, interactive learning experiences that foster creativity and engagement. TISD’s highly qualified teachers—many National Board Certified—offer academic and emotional support to ensure every student reaches their full potential. TISD is proud to offer the most dual-credit courses in the Texarkana area and boasts a comprehensive PreK–12 STEM program that serves over 2,300 students. In keeping with its commitment to excellence, TISD passed a $189 million bond in 2022 to replace aging facilities and enhance its career and technology programs. New state-of-the-art buildings funded by the bond will open in the 2025–2026 school year, providing students with cutting-edge learning spaces. These include a new experiential Pre-K campus, an elementary campus focused on career and technology education, and the new Texas High Career and Technology Education Center. This center will allow students to earn industry certifications and gain hands-on experience in various fields, preparing them for future careers. The new facility will also complement the existing dual- credit and associate degree opportunities already offered at Texas High School, further expanding academic pathways for students. TISD’s success is driven by strong partnerships with parents, stakeholders, and the community, ensuring that students receive the support they need to excel in all aspects of their education. These collaborations are essential in preparing TISD students to become leaders in the global workforce.
