University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana UAHT offers free early college programs such as the Arkansas High Collegiate Academy and the Secondary Career & Technical Education Center, as well as traditional programs in welding, cybersecurity, general education, nursing, and more. In 1993, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences established a Family Medicine Residency Program in Texarkana. This UAMS Regional Campus accepts eight new residents into its three-year program each summer. Residents are recent medical school graduates from UAMS College of Medicine and other accredited institutions who wish to become board-certified in family medicine by the American Academy of Family Physicians. As part of their residency training, UAMS Family Medicine Residents see patients at the UAMS Family Medical Center– Texarkana. This clinic also serves as a clinical site for students enrolled in the UAMS College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, and College of Health Professions.
