BIOLA HALL WORK David Cant, Supt.— Our City M ission for Men in the center o f Los Angeles. _

from 10 a. m. to 10 p. m. N oon-day Prayer Meeting. Meetings continuous

|S the stirring notes of an old Gospel chorus ring out in front of Biola Hall, sung by the band of earnest young men gathered for the noonday meet ing, the crowds begin to gather. One after another of these young men stands out and tells in simple, earnest tones what the Lord Jesus Christ means to him. Conviction is written on many faces, for these messages have all been bathed in prayer and the Gos pel of Christ is always the power of God unto salvation to him who believ- eth. The invitation is given, many lift their hats as the speaker closes with prayer and those interested press into the hall where testimony and prayer are continued. On this particular day four came out and confessed Christ for the first time. The Gospel of John is presented to them, attention being specially drawn to John 20<:31 and stress laid on the continual reading of this wonderful Book. Names and ad dresses are taken for follow-up work. -The converts are urged to attend the Bible class for beginners and the work is thus continued till the closing hour. There is never any question of a sus tained hearing by the men on the street when Spirit-filled men hold the platform. The Ministry of Prayer “ Do you believe in prayer?” asked a well dressed man who had stood with bowed head taking in the Word for over an hour. “ If you do, please pray for my restoration! God alone knows

the hindering thing in my life. No, I won’t come inside; but pray, just pray for me,” and he was gone with a handgrip which meant earnestness at least. We certainly did pray; two of us agreed. He came back a week later. The story is too long to relate here. It sounded much like Jonah’s experience, but the joy of God’s salvation came back (although it took a shipwreck to awaken him), for Christ and fellowship with Him is the solution of all life’s problems. How God delights to take the weak things to confound the things which are mighty! The speaker was neither wise nor mighty nor noble from this world’s standpoint. Yet in trembling, feeble tones he was telling “ Salvation's story o’er and o’er,” and when the net was cast, according to the Master’s bid ding, two poor sinners’ . hearts were opened, “ And Jesus came in to abide.” Another poor, deluded soul was steeped in a religion without Christ. Of course, he fell in the way of sin ners and next we heard of him he had landed in San Quentin with a sentence of fifteen years. It was then that his heart was opened and he found a friend in Jesus. How much better to go to glory through San Quentin than to hell even through a university! Eternity Where? One lad came along with a very heavy heart. His father had died a week ago and that old, old preacher “ Death” was used to stir up the old, old question, “ Eternity, where?” Thank
