Jesus is preaching to the crowd in the house and then something happened. The roof opened above him and a mat tress with a sick man on it was let down with ropes just in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw how much faith these four men had, he spoke to the sick man, saying, “ Thy sins are forgiven thee.” But some of the people who were sit ting there said to themselves, “Who is this that pretends to forgive sins, as if He were God? Jesus could read their thoughts, and said to them, “Why do ye think these things in your hearts? Is it not as easy for me to forgive this man his sins as it is to cure him? But to show you that I have power to for give sins, I will make him well.” Then he said to the sick man, “ Stand up on thy feet, and take up thy bed and go to thy house.” Immediately the man rose, stood on his feet, took up his bed, and went out before them all. My, boys and girls, I should like to have been at the sick man’s home when he walked in carrying his bed! What do you think his wife and children would do'when they saw him walking and a well man? I think they had a great time of thanksgiving. Now, boys and girls, there are lots of people whose bodies seem well, but their souls are sick in sin, and we, like the four men, can tell these people of Jesus and do our part to bring them to Jesus, that they may know Him and have their sins forgiven. strong and can run about and play and do our work every day. Would you like to hear a true story about a man who was sick and had to lie on his bed all day long, and was made well and strong? Let us bow our heads and thank Jesus for our well, strong bodies. Lesson Story.-|§We heard a story last week about four boys who had well, strong bodies, and we learned how they lived to keep them, well and strong. (Review last week’s lesson.) Today we are going to hear about four men who were well and strong, who had a friend who was sick. These men lived at the time when Jesus was living here on this earth. Jesus had been going about from place to place preaching to the people, and often healing the sick people who were brought to him. At the time of our story Jesus was in a city named Capernaum, and when the people heard he was there they came in great crowds and filled the house, and he preached to them there. The houses in those days were usually flat, and only one 'story high. The roofs were flat, with a wall, or railing, around them, so that persons might safely walk there. In the center of the house was a large square room called the court. Over this the roof was left open, but in time or ram, or much heat, an awning or covering ot some kind was stretched across the opening. It was into such a house as this that Jesus had now come. These four men who had the sick friend thought of Jesus, for they believed in Jesus, and felt He could heal the friend of his sickness. Now, how do you sup pose they felt after carrying the friend on his bed, and could not get near Jesus on account of the great crowd? Now, if you listen you will hear what they did.

Your neighbor, false or true, They surely will return alike To sink their fangs in you.
