We all love a success story. Many of our favorite books and films involve someone starting with nothing and building a fortune, and most of us love to celebrate those of us who accomplish it in real life. There’s even a day dedicated to the idea — National Be a Millionaire Day on May 20. Many entrepreneurs start their businesses with the dream that they’ll be the one who beats the odds and achieves the ultimate level of prosperity.

I didn’t achieve that overnight; starting a business almost always involves taking an initial pay cut. But I got there eventually. The problem is that it’s not a static goal. The standard continues to rise as wages increase and I become more skilled and experienced. I think it’s essential for everyone to assess their value constantly, but it’s especially crucial for a business owner. Otherwise, you can quickly find yourself working harder for less money. It’s a problem I’ve encountered as I work weekends and spend evenings online updating our website and researching best business practices. The main benefit of working for someone else is that you’re finished for the day when you go home. When you work for yourself, it’s incredibly difficult to step away. As I work on that problem, it has shifted how I think about money. Time may be money, but time is also the most valuable thing money can buy. We constantly make choices between money and time. When we want to save money, we complete a task ourselves instead of hiring someone — but it costs us our entire day. Since we’re continually trading time for money and vice versa, the question comes down to determining which one you want more. As Horizon Physical Therapy has grown, I can’t deny that it would be incredible to become a million-dollar practice. Very few businesses achieve that level of success, but I think it’s possible if I work hard enough. At the same time, what good is being a millionaire if I don’t have the time to enjoy it? I now think business success is a constant balancing act between financial security and living your life. One must determine how to make enough money to spend time doing what they love. Once you figure out the answer to that question, you know you’ve made it.

But I didn’t start Horizon Physical Therapy to become rich. Instead, I wanted to prove that I could do it. It excited me to create something of my own that could become my legacy. As for finances, my measure of success wasn’t being a millionaire but

rather making as much money as I would working at someone else’s

physical therapy practice.

“Time may be money, but time is also the most valuable thing money can buy.”

Cut Down on Your Alcohol Intake To Improve Your Physical and Mental Well-Being

Have you been looking for ways to improve your physical and mental health? Are you tired of trying new exercise routines or beginning new diets without seeing any results? Do you regularly drink alcohol? If you answered yes to these three questions, there might be a solution that will help you improve your overall health and well-being.

There are also effects that alcohol can have on your sleep and energy levels. Drinking can disrupt the sleep cycle and lead to poor sleep quality. Drinking alcohol can have a negative impact on mood, leading to feelings of depression, anxiety, and irritability. Reduce Fibromyalgia Pain With PT YES, YOUR HOME EXERCISE PLAN MATTERS!

Though fibromyalgia affects roughly 4 million American adults, experts still have many unanswered questions about the condition. But while there is no cure for fibromyalgia, people who suffer from it are not helpless and can find some relief from their symptoms. In honor of National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day on May 12, we want to share physical therapy’s benefits for many patients. Researchers do not know the cause of fibromyalgia, though studies suggest that the condition reflects a change in how a person’s nervous system processes pain. Risk factors include rheumatoid arthritis, infection, obesity, and physical or emotional trauma. But the most predictive factor is sex — approximately 80%–90% of fibromyalgia patients are women. Fibromyalgia can develop suddenly or slowly over time. The primary sign of the condition is widespread pain across the body with multiple “tender points.” But fibromyalgia produces many other symptoms, including headaches, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and memory problems. People with fibromyalgia are more likely to suffer from depression or anxiety, and many experience stomach or jaw pain. Various symptoms may come and go over time. Fortunately, multiple studies have shown that exercise significantly benefits people with fibromyalgia. But many sufferers are afraid to start because they worry about worsening their pain. Working with an experienced physical therapist can provide comfort and reassurance that the activity will not harm them. Physical therapists help fibromyalgia patients begin exercising slowly and safely, building their strength and endurance with time. A physical therapist will assess the

patient’s current level of fitness and pain and design a customized program with realistic goals. With consistent treatment, patients can reduce pain and fatigue while improving their mood and sleep. Unfortunately, a body not used to physical movement often feels pain after beginning a new exercise routine.

But a physical therapist can guide patients through the process so they know what to expect and how treatment will benefit them over time. Physical therapists can also provide pain reduction techniques, perform deep tissue massage, or provide hot or cold therapy. Physical therapy will not cure fibromyalgia or eliminate the disease’s symptoms, but it is among the most promising treatments currently available. Many people with fibromyalgia report feeling more energetic and experiencing less pain after treatment. If you’re curious about how physical therapy might be able to help you or a loved one, call Horizon Physical Therapy today to schedule a consultation!

Why ‘Sculptural’ Candles Are Selling Out

Research from the National Candle Association (NCA) backs this up. According to their website, in the ‘80s, “interest in candles as decorative items, mood-setters, and gifts began to increase notably. Candles were suddenly available in a broad array of sizes, shapes, and colors, and consumer interest in scented candles began to escalate.” Today, they’re back in style! Second, candles are the latest way to enhance the artistry of homes. According to Better Homes & Gardens, searches for sculptural candles first spiked in 2020 when COVID-19 trapped us all inside. In our quest to add art and coziness to our lives, we turned to fun candles — and now, we’re pushing the envelope with weirder and wilder designs. Ultimately, the reason behind the trend doesn’t matter. If you love it, hop on board! Just be sure to shop smart. Instead of buying paraffin candles made from the byproducts of petroleum — which are linked to pollution and can trigger asthma — look for soy, beeswax, or stearin candles instead. Before buying from major retailers, you should check out local shops and small candle makers like those on Etsy.com. You’ll be trendy, eco‑friendly, and supporting small businesses!

PEOPLE ARE GOING NUTS FOR ‘SCULPTURAL’ CANDLES The Dos and Don’ts of Joining the Trend

Haven’t you heard? Candlesticks aren’t just dull Thanksgiving accessories anymore! In 2023, plain tapers are out, and sculptural candles are in. These come in hundreds of shapes and sizes, from column-like candlesticks to lamps, vases, and body parts. If you doubt us, just Google it. As we write this, FWRD is selling a ribbed, S-shaped green candle for $150 and a hand-shaped candle making a peace sign for $40.

Why are sculptural candles all the rage right now? We have a few theories. First, the ‘70s and ‘80s are trending, and many of the sculptural candles selling out online are tagged “70s,” “vintage,” or “mid-century modern.” It’s possible sculptural candles are just the latest manifestation of a throwback trend sweeping everything from furniture to color palettes.
