VERMICULITE BOARDS
Vermiculite boards are made from exfoliated vermiculite which is a naturally occurring aluminium-magnesium silicate layer that expands with the application of heat. This expansion process is called exfoliation and the resulting material is used in bulk form or processed to boards by a press forming process. The resulting boards have good insulation properties combined with low weight and high strength. The boards can be worked easily with wood working tools. They can be sawn, drilled and sanded.
Examples of Applications:
• Wood burning stoves • Hearths • Register plates • Boilers • Vessels and tanks • Lining for molten lead • Fire protection
Key Features:
• Low thermal conductivity • Easily machined • Stronger than ceramic fibre board
