THERMAL ROPES

GLASS FIBRE The following items are manufactured from glass fibres of nominal diameter 6 - 9 microns which can withstand continuous exposure to temperatures up to 550 o C. It also resists most acids and alkalis and is not affected by bleaches or solvents. KNITTED ROPES Ropes made by this process are the most flexible. Available in diameters from 6mm – 20mm in white and black colour. Examples of Application: Used as a gasket or seal in boilers, coke ovens, industrial ovens, wood stove / pellet stove doors and fire doors. BRAIDED ROPES These ropes are stronger and less flexible than knitted ropes. Available in diameters from 3mm – 20mm in white and black colour Examples of Application: Used as a gasket or seal in boilers, coke ovens, industrial ovens, wood stove / pellet stove doors and fire doors. It is also used for crucible packing and shaft packing. BRAIDED SQUARE PACKING Excellent flexibility, good spring back and high mechanical strength. Examples of Application: Sealing joints in boilers and boiler doors, industrial furnaces, incinerators, cookers and stoves. Also for use in fire doors for fire protection. LAGGING ROPES The core of the rope consists of parallel strands of fibres and these are contained within an outer braided or meshed sleeve. Available in diameters from 20mm to 50mm. Examples of Application: Lagging insulation for pipes, chimney flues, cable ducts, heat exchangers and kiln cars.
